1. Union Minister Anurag Thakur inaugurates 16th meeting of SCO Youth Council: The 16th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Youth Council was held in hybrid mode in New Delhi on Tuesday, under the chairship of India.

5. Several Republican lawmakers in US’ South Carolina have endorsed a bill proposing punishments that could range up to death penalty for women who undergo abortions. The proposed bill, however, makes an exception for women who undergo abortions due to the threat of “imminent death”. Currently, South Carolina punishes abortion with a $1,000 fine and up to two years in prison.
6. Facebook-parent Meta Platforms has announced that it would lay off another 10,000 employees in second round of firing, four months after laying off 11,000 employees.
7. China will reopen its borders to tourists and resume issuing all visas Wednesday after a three-year halt during the pandemic as it sought to boost its tourism and economy.
8. US, UK and Australia agree on nuclear submarine project. The US, UK and Australia have unveiled details of their plan to create a new fleet of nuclear-powered submarines, aimed at countering China’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region. Under the Aukus pact Australia is to get its first nuclear-powered subs – at least three – from the US.
The allies will also work to create a new fleet using cutting-edge tech, including UK-made Rolls-Royce reactors. Beijing has strongly criticised the significant naval deal.
