1. Chinese protest against Dalai Lama’s birthday celebrations (6 July):
They displayed banners in protest from across the Indus river, close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC), when Indian villagers were celebrating the birthday of the Dalai Lama in Demchok in eastern Ladakh.
2. Navy chief Admiral Karambir to visit Russia next month Aug 2021. Talks on Nuclear Submarine likely to be on the agenda. Both countries have worked closely for years and currently, Russia is building two Admiral Grigorovich class frigates for the Navy in a Kaliningrad shipyard, to be delivered in three years.
3. India withdraws diplomats from Kandahar. Taliban marches forward in Afghanista and takes control of several cities.
4. The Dominica High Court has granted bail to fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi, allowing him to travel to Antigua and Barbuda for treatment of his neurological condition.

1. Nepal’s Supreme Court on 12 Jul (Monday) directed President Bidya Devi Bhandari to appoint Nepali Congress chief Sher Bahadur Deuba as PM of Nepal by 13 Jul and reinstated the House of Representatives for a 2nd time in 5 months.
2. China on 12 Jul (Monday) dismissed the 2016 verdict of the international tribunal on the South China Sea.
3. China accused US Navy destroyer USS Benfold of illegally trespassing into China’s territorial waters which sailed through the South China Sea (SCS), coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the verdict to assert freedom of navigation.
4. In 2016, the Tribunal concluded that there was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the ‘nine-dash line’, the five-judge tribunal appointed by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) based in The Hague adjudicating on the petition filed by the Philippines.
5. Heavy rains cause mayhem in parts of China, over 1 lakh evacuated till now.
6. The govt of Bangladesh has decided to conditionally relax the ongoing COVID restrictions for a week between July 15-22.
