3 US Based Economists Win Nobel prize

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. PM Modi will participate in the G20 Extraordinary Leaders’ Summit on Afghanistan in virtual format today at the invitation of the Italian Presidency of the G-20.

2. PM Modi had earlier participated in the SCO – CSTO outreach Summit on Afghanistan. External Affairs Minister, Dr. S Jaishankar, participated in the meeting of G20 Foreign Ministers on Afghanistan on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York

3. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has embarked on a week-long US trip to attend the annual meet of the World Bank and IMF as well as G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting.

4. Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi today addressed the High-Level Meeting to mark the 60th Anniversary of Non-Aligned Movement NAM in Belgrade, Serbia. The Minister of State focused on contemporary issues of tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, terrorism and climate change.

5. The Canadian government said they will only accept COVID-19 tests from Genestrings lab in Delhi International Airport for passengers travelling from Canada to India.

6. PM Modi, UK’s Johnson Speak As UK Ends Quarantine For Vaccinated Indian Travellers. PM Modi and Boris Johnson welcomed the progress made on the 2030 Roadmap since it was agreed by the two leaders in May.

7. According to External Affairs Minister (EAM), S Jaishankar, India has agreed on USD 200 million Line of Credit support for the developmental projects in Kyrgyzstan.

1. 3 US-Based Economists Win Nobel for Research on Wages, Jobs:
David Card of the University of California at Berkeley; Joshua Angrist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Guido Imbens from Stanford University.

2. Thailand To End Quarantine For Some Vaccinated Visitors From November
: Visitors from least 10 countries including Britain, Singapore, Germany, China and the United States will be exempted from quarantine on arrival, Prayuth said, according to a transcript of a recorded televised speech provided by his office.

3. 5-day long Durga Puja celebrations begin in Bangladesh. More than 32000 puja mandapas are made in B’desh this year. Dhaka has 238 mandapas. Puja celebration will end on 15th with immersion of Durga idol on Vijayadashmi.
