INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. 5th India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, co-chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, U.S. Secretary of Defence Mr Lloyd Austin and U.S. Secretary of State Mr Antony Blinken, in New Delhi on November 10, 2023.

2. India and the U.S. on November 10 held extensive deliberations to further expand their global strategic partnership through greater defence industrial ties, enhancing engagement in the Indo-Pacific and boosting cooperation in key areas such as critical minerals and high-technology.

3. Noting the “horrific terrorist attack” against Israel by Hamas, India and the US reiterated that both countries stand with Israel against terrorism and further called for adherence to international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians.

4. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra Friday expressed deep concern over the threat video released by designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and emphasised “serious security concerns” it poses.Kwatra also highlighted ongoing diplomatic efforts with Canada and reiterated India’s position on the matter during a press briefing.

5. The French government has selected India as one of the five nations as a priority for its global nation-branding campaign on the theme “Make It Iconic. Choose France.”

6. India has sent a third tranche of relief materials to earthquake victims in Nepal as part of continued support to the Himalayan nation at the time of the crisis.

7. Pakistan government on Friday released 80 Indian fishermen who were arrested after crossing the international border while fishing.

8. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday called on India to cooperate with an investigation by Canada into the killing of a Sikh separatist in June that has triggered a major diplomatic row between New Delhi and Ottawa.

9. PM Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Friday shared concerns on the situation in West Asia and expressed deep concern over terrorism, violence and loss of civilian lives there. Modi’s conversation with Lula da Silva comes amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.

10. Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Sri Lanka organised the 8th Ayurveda Day at Sri Lanka foundation in Colombo. Speaking at the event, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, said that Ayurveda is a part of the common heritage shared between India and Sri Lanka.

1. The worst flooding to hit Somalia in decades has killed 29 people and forced more than 300,000 to flee their homes, the National Disaster Management Agency said .

2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given its approval to Valneva’s single-shot vaccine, known as Ixchiq, for individuals aged 18 and older who face an increased risk of exposure to the chikungunya virus. This approval marks a significant milestone as it’s the first preventive shot to combat this mosquito-borne disease in the United States.

3. TOP LASHKAR TERRORIST, ANTI-INDIA JIHADIST RECRUITER, SHOT DEAD IN PAKISTAN: Akram Khan alias Ghazi, a key recruiter for exporting terror and terrorists into India’s Jammu and Kashmir, was shot dead by bike-borne men in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, about 132 km north of provincial capital Peshawar.

4. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has urged Pakistani authorities to bring agriculture, real estate, and retail sectors into the tax net.

5. Russia has formally withdrawn from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), citing NATO’s expansion as a barrier to cooperation. The move follows Russia’s recent revocation of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Signed in 1990 after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the CFE aimed to limit conventional arms and prevent a rapid build-up of forces between Cold War rivals.
