1. The 2021 BRICS summit is the 13th annual BRICS summit, an international relations conference attended by the heads of state or heads of government of the 5 member states Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. It will be the 3rd time that India will be hosting the BRICS Summit after 2012 and 2016.

2. A suspected call from a Pakistani spy agency to an Army installation in eastern part of the India has led to the unravelling of an illegal telephone exchange in Bengaluru, Karnataka raising questions whether similar systems were operational in other parts of the India,

3. Russia to introduce new turboshaft engines to Asian market.
Russia’s United Engine Corporation is expanding its portfolio of turboshaft engines for helicopters. “In 2019-2020 the UEC’s share in the global helicopter engine market was between 10% to 12%.

4. India is looking forward to working with Germany on the “convergent” vision of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said while speaking at an event held to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Germany.

5. Aviation Ministry permits Survey of India to use drones for mapping villages under SVAMITVA scheme: SVAMITVA (Survey of villages and mapping with improvised technology in village areas) scheme is a new initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. It aims to provide rural people with the right to document their residential properties so that they can use their property for economic purposes.

6. GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC) on Wednesday, June 9, handled a massive cryogenic oxygen shipment of cryogenic oxygen containers. These containers arrived at Hyderabad International Airport in Telangana by a special Indian Airforce’s Boeing Globemaster aircraft from Singapore.

7. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) extended the suspension of passenger flights from India till 6 July to combat the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The ban was initially imposed on 25 April. UAE had earlier announced that the flight suspension would continue till June 30.

8. The Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi yesterday said that Indian government will abide by the Saudi Arabia’s decision on conducting Haj 2021.

9. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held discussion with his Kuwait counterpart Dr. Ahmed Nasser Mohammed Al Sabah. In a series of tweets, Dr Jaishankar welcomed the openness to address the issues of Indian community in Kuwait.

10. India seeks early resumption of travel by Indian citizens to neighbour country China, especially for work or study purposes.

11. PM Modi to participate in outreach sessions of G7 Summit on 12th and 13th June in virtual format.

12. Pakistan Assembly has approved “International Court of Justice (Review & Re-consideration) Ordinance, 2020”. This will allow Kulbhushan Jadhav to appeal his conviction in the high courts of the country.

1. Russia’s new generation of containerized anti-ship cruise missile systems with the name Club-K is attracting great attention from experts around the world, especially in the US and NATO because it is considered very difficult to detect and intercept.

2. USA President Joe Biden’s policy coordinator for the Indo-Pacific region on June 9 said that the US intends to hold a “very ambitious” Quad leaders meeting in Washington which will have all Quad leaders in attendance. While speaking at an online event hosted by the Center for a New American Security think tank.

3. Quad group of countries – India, Australia, the U.S. and Japan – are on track to meet their goal of producing at least one billion vaccines for the Asia region by the end of 2022, despite the massive COVID-19 wave that has hit India in recent weeks.

4. China boosts support for Myanmar army, countering US sanctions : China says its policy toward Myanmar remains unaffected by the country’s domestic situation.

5. China national legislature approves law to counter foreign sanctions even as Commerce Ministers of US and China talk to better the cooperation. The anti-foreign sanctions law was passed on 10 June.

6. Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has urged the Islamic scholars, teachers, political leaders and activists of the nation to make efforts to keep the youth away from the destructive path of militancy and terrorism.
She also requested people of Bangladesh to keep society free from harmful social practices like child marriage, dowry, violence against women and drugs.

7. A military plane crashed near Mandalay in Myanmar killing 12 people onboard on 10 June morning. The plane had taken off from the capital city Naypyidaw for the town of Pyin Oo Lwin when it crashed about 300 meters from a steel plant.
