PM Modi greeted United States President Joe Biden

1. US President Joe Biden will hold a virtual meeting with PM Narendra Modi on 11 Apr (Monday) to “further deepen ties between our governments, economies, and our people”, a US official said. ”

2. External Affairs Ministry said the two leaders will review ongoing bilateral cooperation and exchange views on recent developments in South Asia, the Indo-Pacific region, and global issues of mutual interest.

1. Russian forces fired rockets into Ukraine’s Dnipro on Sunday, completely destroying an airport in the city.

2. The economic crisis in Sri Lanka may lead to more deaths than those caused by COVID-19, according to Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA). All hospitals in the country no longer had access to imported medical tools and vital drugs.

3. UK’s Finance Minister Rishi Sunak considered whether he should resign after facing criticism over his wife Akshata Murty’s non-domiciled tax status.

4. UK’s Defence Ministry claimed on Sunday that Russia is seeking to strengthen its troop numbers in Ukraine by recruiting military personnel who were discharged from services in 2012

5. Pro-Russian protesters gathered in Germany on Sunday to protest against discrimination in the country towards Russians following the invasion of Ukraine.

6. Shehbaz Sharif, who has been nominated as the next PM of Pakistan, on Sunday claimed that the new government in the country will not indulge in politics of revenge.

7. Ousted Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Sunday made his first remarks after losing a no-confidence motion against him in the country’s Parliament. “Pakistan became an independent state in 1947, but the freedom struggle begins again today against a foreign conspiracy of regime change,” tweeted Khan.

8. Australia, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has called a federal election for 21st May. At present, Morrison’s ruling coalition holds 76 seats in the House of Representatives. Opinion polls suggested there will be a change of government, with the opposition Labor party, led by Anthony Albanese, tipped to take office
