G20 includes African Union as permanent member. In a brief televised inaugural session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the move to make the 55-member African bloc the first new member of the G20 since its creation in 1999 to cope with a series of financial crises

6. Spain’s 🇪🇸President Pedro Sanchez has announced that he tested positive for COVID-19, and will not be able to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi.
7. India and the US on Friday said they have started talks to put in place a strategic framework for human space flight by year-end as they plan to send an Indian astronaut to the International Space Station in 2024.
8. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Friday said G20 has been a huge success for India and it is the “right country at the right time to be hosting this”.
9. United Nations chief Antonio Guterres on Friday described India as “the country of the world” and a “very important” partner in the multilateral system but said it is for the members and not him to decide on its UN Security Council membership.
10. Pakistan has started the construction of a Cultural Theme Park at Kartarpur Corridor (Gurdwara Darbar Sahib) in Punjab province to woo more pilgrims to the revered place of worship for the Sikhs.
