1.Japan: PM Modi has spoken to Fumio Kishida and congratulated him for assuming charge as the Prime Minister of Japan.
2. United Kingdom: Ending a diplomatic row over vaccine certification, the UK govt added India to its vaccine-eligible countries list for Covishield, which would mean fully vaccinated Indians will no longer be required to quarantine on arrival in Britain from October 11.
3. India and Nepal reviewed implementation of ongoing cross-border railway links and overall bilateral cooperation in the railway sector in the 5th Joint Working Group and the 7th Project Steering Committee meetings in New Delhi.
4. Both sides signed the Standard Operating Procedures for start of passenger train services on the Jaynagar-Kurtha section and the Memorandum of Understanding for Final Location Survey of the proposed broad gauge railway line between Raxaul and Kathmandu. The proposed Raxaul-Kathmandu broad gauge railway line will further boost connectivity between India and Nepal.
5. USA : US deputy secretary of State Ambassador Wendy Sherman on Thursday visited Western Naval Command at Mumbai and interacted with Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar. She was accompanied by high level US delegation. They discussed various issues relating to Navies of both countries and strengthening growing co-operation, challenges on the maritime front

Afghanistan : More than 100 killed and injured in mosque blast in northeastern Afghanistan: A suicide bomber attacked a mosque in Afghanistan’s Northeastern Kunduz province on 08 Oct (Friday), killing scores of worshippers in the country’s third attack this week on a religious institution. Islamic State claimed responsibility for an attack.
