1. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Australian Space Agency (ASA) held a virtual meeting on 08 Jun during which they reviewed space cooperation and discussed potential areas of working together.

2. The visiting Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Nepal Mahendra Rai Yadav held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi on 08 June.

3. Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi will be on a six-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan from 09 June.

4. China commends Indian government’s efforts in helping SriLanka to pull through its worst financial crisis even as it tried to correct the image that China is hesitant in announcing big financial assistance for Sri Lanka despite being a major investor in the country.

The Union Cabinet approved signing of Memorandum of Understanding among the Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and International AIDS Vaccine Initiative IAVI, USA to contribute towards the development of new, improved and innovative biomedical tools and technologies to prevent and treat HIV, TB, COVID-19 and other emerging infectious and neglected diseases.

6. India has set a Guinness World Record after consultants for the National Highways Association of India (NHAI) built the longest continuous stretch of bituminous concrete road – a 75 km stretch between Maharashtra’s Amravati and Aloka on National Highway 53.

7. Ex-Pakistani PM Imran Khan on Tuesday asked the country’s government to sever ties with India and boycott Indian products in response to ex-BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s alleged derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad. Khan alleged that India had been allowed to get away with its “Islamophobic policies” so far. Countries including Qatar and Kuwait had summoned Indian envoys over the remarks.

1. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday said that UN’s plan to restart grain exports from Ukraine along a sea corridor was “reasonable”.

2. The UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) has teamed up with Uber to supply aid to people in war-torn Ukraine. Uber’s customised ‘Uber Direct’ software app will help coordinate, dispatch and track a fleet of smaller vehicles in areas where large vehicles may not be able to reach. WFP aims to provide aid to three million people per month by June.
