1. President of Guyana Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali arrived in New Delhi last night to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. He will also attend programmes in Agra, Kanpur, Bengaluru, and Mumbai during his week long visit to India.
2. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will embark on a three day official visit to New York and Washington DC to participate in India-US Trade Policy Forum.
3. Sri Lanka’s Transport minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena and Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay unveiled a plaque at the ceremonial launch of the rehabilitation project at Medawachchiya in Anuradhapura district.
The 128 kilometre long Maho Omanthai line will be upgraded by the Indian transport infrastructure Miniratna enterprise under an Indian line of credit at a cost.
4. India-US Trade Policy Forum to meet in Washington on January 11. The meeting will be co-chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai.

4. Bolsonaro supporters storm key govt buildings in Brazil. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was not in the building at the time. Executive secretary of the Brazilian Justice Minister, Ricardo Cappelli, vowed to punish all those involved in breaching the government buildings. The report said supporters of Bolsonaro have been camping out in Brasilia since Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took over as Brazilian President. Since Bolsonaro’s defeat in the elections, thousands of his supporters have gathered at military barracks in Brazil, calling on the army to step in as they claim that the election was stolen.
