1. Ukraine dam breached, unleashing floods as residents ordered to evacuate. Kyiv, Moscow accuse each other of striking dam in Russia-controlled region in southeastern Ukraine. The wall of a major dam in a part of southern Ukraine that Moscow controls collapsed Tuesday after a reported explosion, sending water gushing downriver and prompting dire warnings of ecological damage as officials from both sides in the war ordered residents to evacuate.

The fallout could have broad consequences: Flooding homes, streets and businesses downstream; depleting water levels upstream that help cool Europe’s largest nuclear power plant; and draining supplies of drinking water to the south in Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov has warned of the danger of floating mines and diseases due to the flooding caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, which was reportedly blown up by Russia.

2. The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii’s Halemaumau Crater erupted recently, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

3. Boeing has been sued by Colorado-based Wilson Aerospace which accused it of stealing trade secrets for NASA’s Space Launch System rocket.

4. Australian High Commissioner Barry O’Farrell said that the government is making efforts to ensure that those who deface or attack places of worship in the country are prosecuted.

5. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has issued a ‘secret order’ banning suicide in the country, reports said. Kim Jong-un described the act as “treason against socialism” and ordered local governments to take preventative measures.

6. Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been released from prison in Rawalpindi. Qureshi, who was among some of the leaders of ex-PM Imran Khan’s party arrested after the May 9 violence incidents.

7. The 193 UN Member States, elected a veteran diplomat from Trinidad and Tobago, Dennis Francis as the President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
