1. Project on Dam Safety Program: Central Water Commission of India & World Bank signed a $250 million project on 4 Aug 2021 for long-term dam safety program. This project will help in strengthening dam safety by building dam safety guidelines, bringing in global experience, and by introducing innovative technologies.

2. India has not been invited to a key meeting convened by Russia i. 2nd week of August on the fast-evolving situation in Afghanistan that is expected to be attended by Pakistan, China and the United States.

3. Tony Abbott, the Special Envoy of Australian PM Scott Morrison met PM Modi in New Delhi on 05 Aug.In a tweet, PM Modi said, they had a good conversation on ways to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Australia.

4. The ministry of external affairs on 05 Aug (Thursday) said the recent India-China military talks on the eastern Ladakh row were “constructive” and both sides agreed to resolve the remaining issues in an “expeditious manner”

1. United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has declared that it is against the restoration of Islamic emirate in Afghanistan.

2. Thailand has banned sunscreens containing chemicals that damage coral from all of its marine national parks.
Concerns are growing that lotions tourists use for sun protection are harming slow-growing corals.
The Thai Department of Conservation said four ingredients commonly found in sun creams were shown to destroy coral larvae, obstruct coral reproduction and cause reef bleaching.
Anyone flouting the ban can be fined up to 100,000 baht (£2,100).

3. Mob attacks temple in Pakistan’s Punjab, damages idols: mob attacked the Hindu temple at Bhong city of Rahim Yar Khan district, some 590 kms from Lahore, on 04 Aug (Wednesday) in reaction to an alleged desecration of a Muslim seminary by a minor Hindu boy. The eight-year-old Hindu boy last week had allegedly urinated at a library of the seminary that caused tensions in Bhong, where Muslims and Hindus have been living peacefully for decades.
