1. NASA’s Parker Solar Probe completed its 16th orbit of Sun on June 27. This included a close approach to Sun on June 22 where the spacecraft came within over 85 lakh km of solar surface while moving at nearly 6 lakh kmph, NASA said.
2. Scientists from Bangladesh and Mauritius have set sail on the research vessel ‘Sagar Nidhi’ to participate in a joint ocean expedition. The expedition is taking place under the framework of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC).
3. Bank of England has suggested that people of any gender identity can be pregnant. In a submission to LGBTQ+ lobby group Stonewall, the central bank said it introduced a family leave policy in June 2021 which used the phrase “birthing parent”. It said the term meant “the parent who is/was pregnant…but includes persons of any and all gender identities”.
4. The 43rd session of conference of United Nation Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) held at FAO’s headquarter, Rome began on 1st July, 2023. Qu-Dongyu of China was re-elected as a Director General of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

8. 4 Killed, 2 Children Injured After Mass Shooting In US. At least four people were killed and two children wounded in a mass shooting Monday night in the US city of Philadelphia, police said, the latest chapter in the country’s gun violence crisis. Police apprehended the suspected shooter — a 40-year-old who was wearing a bulletproof vest and was armed with a rifle and a handgun — near the scene of the shooting.
