6. Russia and Ukraine announced on Saturday that they have released more than 170 prisoners of war (POWs) as part of the latest prisoner swap between them. Moscow said Ukraine freed 63 Russian troops, including some “special category” prisoners whose release was secured following mediation by the UAE. Meanwhile, Kyiv informed that Russia released 116 Ukrainians from its captivity.

7. US shoots down Chinese ‘spy balloon’, China warns of repercussions. After shooting down a Chinese surveillance balloon in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Carolina, the United States has launched a mission to recover all the equipment from the debris. Fighter aircraft from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia inspired a single missile into the balloon causing it to crash into the ocean within the US territorial airspace
