4 astronauts set to reach ISS via SpaceX rocket

1. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) introduced a new Ayush (AY) visa for foreign nationals for treatment under Ayush systems/Indian systems of medicine like therapeutic care, wellness and Yoga.

2. External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar held a meeting with Venezuela’s Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez in New Delhi.

3. The government has said that it is closely monitoring the developments in Niger and around 250 Indians residing there are safe.

4. India has been invited to participate in Ukraine peace talks hosted by Saudi Arabia, scheduled for August 5 and 6. The invitation comes as Saudi Arabia reaches out to Western nations, Ukraine, and some major developing countries to discuss the peace plan put forward by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy earlier in the year.

5. India and Kazakhstan on Thursday discussed bilateral, regional issues at the fourth Security Dialogue held in Astana. The two countries also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and international issues of mutual concern.

6. India, Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) countries need to speak in one voice globally in the true spirit of South-South Cooperation, Minister of State of Ministry of External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi said.Speaking at the Valedictory Session on day 2 of the 9th CII India-LAC Conclave organised in New Delhi.

1. 4 astronauts set to reach ISS via SpaceX rocket on Aug 26. NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7 is scheduled to dock at the orbiting laboratory on Saturday.

2. Cygnus spacecraft, also known as the SS Laurel Clark, arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) carrying more than 3,700 kg of supplies on Friday. The supplies include potable water dispenser, among other things.

3. Chinese Ambassador to Russia, Zhang Hanhui, issued a stern warning to Japan and other countries considering NATO’s expansion into East and Asia-Pacific. He urged them to avoid advocating for such expansion.

4. Niger’s ousted leader President Mohamed Bazoum has urged the US and the entire international community to help restore constitutional order after last week’s coup.

5. Ethiopia’s government announced a state of emergency on Friday. This follows days of clashes between the federal security forces and local ethnic militia in the northern Amhara region.

6. At least 18 people have died and 23 were injured in a bus accident in Mexico. The authorities said the bus, which was headed to northern border town of Tijuana from Mexico City, was carrying around 42 passengers. It fell off a highway into a ravine.

7. Bangladesh, with 10 more dengue deaths, the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease reached 283, the highest in 23 years. Last year dengue claimed 281 lives, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

8. Professor Naela Quadri Baloch, Baluchistan’s PM-in-exile, has called Pakistan a slayer and not a saviour of Muslims due to its continuing atrocities in Baluchistan, Sindh and occupied territories of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, including Gilgit Baltistan.

9. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have recently asserted their sole ownership of the disputed Arash-Dorra gas field, a resource-rich offshore area also claimed by Iran.
