1. DIRECT FLIGHTS BETWEEN INDIA, CHINA SHOULD START : Chinese Consul General in Kolkata Zha Liyou said. Indian passengers are currently travelling to China through Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar, shelling out exorbitant amount of money on steep airfares.
2. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will pay a two-day visit to Russia from November 7 during which he will hold discussions with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the entire range of bilateral issues and exchange views on regional and international developments.
3. The Govt of India presented USD 2.5 million (second tranche of a total contribution of USD 5 million for the Financial Year 2022-2023) to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), in support of the Agency’s core programmes and services, including education, healthcare, relief and social services.
4. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Moscow, Russia on November 7 and 8, During his visit, Jaishankar is expected to hold meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov.
5. India has abstained from voting at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on a resolution sponsored by Russia to investigate alleged “military biological activities” being carried out by Ukraine. The resolution failed to get adopted as the US, the UK and France voted against it. Only, Russia and China voted in support.
6. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said it is working “sincerely” with the UK government for finalisation of the proposed free trade agreement.

1. Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was injured in an apparent assassination attempt after a gunman opened fire at his rally in the Wazirabad district in eastern Punjab province.
One person killed and eight others were injured in the assassination attempt.The former Pakistan Prime Minister was leading a long anti-government march toward Islamabad.
2. Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has opened, the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which is taking place from November 2 to 13 at the Expo Centre Sharjah.
3. Russia has announced to resume its participation in the United Nations-brokered deal to safely ship Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.
4. Bangladesh: Korean Film Festival begins in Dhaka. A three-day festival of Korean films was inaugurated on 02 Nov by State Minister of Cultural Affairs K M Khalid and the Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun.
5. North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles, including an inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM), on 03 Nov. It triggered an alert for residents in parts of central and northern Japan to seek shelter.
6. United Nations in its reports said that the temperatures in Europe have increased at more than twice the global average over the past three decades.
7. South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo promised a thorough investigation into the Halloween crush over the weekend that killed more than 150 people in Seoul.
8. German Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked all its citizens to immediately leave Iran, saying there is a “concrete danger of being arbitrarily arrested, interrogated and sentenced to long prison terms”. The ministry added that dual nationals with German and Iranian citizenship are also at risk.
9. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) warned that several world heritage sites may become glacier-free by 2050.
