pm modi danish counterpart hold delegation level talks in copenhagen

1. PM Modi and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen held delegation-level talks in Copenhagen on 03 May to review progress in the Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

2. Addressing the Indian community settled in Denmark during his visit to the Nordic nation, Modi also asked each one of them to convince at least their five non-Indian friends to visit India. “The mindset of use and throw is negative for the planet. It is necessary to get out of consumption oriented approach and the need of the hour is to promote ‘LIFE — Lifestyle for Environment’.

3. Amid the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin urged people to contribute to the humanitarian relief material to be sent to Sri Lanka. MK Stalin thanked External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for accepting Tamil Nadu’s request on supplementing India’s humanitarian aid to the country.

1. Chinese Communist Party is on a quest to target rural areas of Tibet, restricting the people from the use of the Tibetan language and compelling ‘village leaders’ to speak in Chinese, a report by European Union stated.

2. In Australia, the Central Bank has raised the interest rates by 0.25 to 0.35 percent for the first time in more than a decade. The Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Philip Lowe said that it was now the right time to withdraw accommodative monetary support designed to help the Australian economy through the pandemic.

3. European Union energy ministers gathered in Brussels for an emergency meeting on 02 May to discuss oil imports from Russia and seek a common response to Moscow cutting gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria.

Brussels has called the Russian move an attempt to “blackmail” the West for its opposition to Moscow’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine.

4. The Chinese capital, Beijing, is on high alert against Covid-19 during the ongoing Labour Day-break. Amid the unabated resurgence of infection, Beijing city authorities will conduct another three-round of mass testing in 11 major administrative districts for the next three days.

5. Germany’s Opposition leader Friedrich Merz travelled to Ukraine’s Kyiv on Tuesday for meetings with Ukrainian officials.

6. UK donates 13 armoured vehicles to evacuate civilians from Ukraine.
