1. Heavy rainfall due to Tropical Storm Mawar and a seasonal rain front left around 7,000 households without electricity in the eastern and western regions of Japan. Train services were suspended, causing people to be stranded.

2. Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill banning transgender healthcare for minors, including puberty blockers and hormone therapy. This makes Texas the largest of the 20 states to outlaw gender-affirming care.

7. U.S. destroyer, Canadian warship sail through Taiwan Strait. The U.S. 7th Fleet announced June 3 that its destroyer USS Chung-Hoon and the Royal Canadian Navy’s HMCS Montreal were “conducting a routine Taiwan Strait transit June 3, through waters where high-seas freedoms of navigation and overflight apply in accordance with international law”.
