INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. External Affairs Ministry said that the Indian Embassy in Sudan’s Khartoum will be temporarily relocated to Port Sudan. A statement from the foreign ministry read: “In view of the prevailing security situation in Sudan, including attacks in Khartoum city, it has been decided that the Indian Embassy in Khartoum will be temporarily relocated to Port Sudan. The situation will be assessed in the light of further developments.”

The Embassy has also included a list of phone numbers in the communique that was tweeted by ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi. Press Release

2. Over three thousand two hundred Indians have been evacuated from the conflict-hit Sudan under Operation Kaveri so far.

3. The 5th India-Kuwait Foreign Office Consultations were held in New Delhi on 02 May.

1. Sudan’s warring military factions agreed to a new and longer seven-day ceasefire from Thursday (May 4)

A statement released by the foreign ministry of South Sudan, which had offered to mediate in the conflict, said its President Salva Kiir stressed the importance of a longer truce and of naming envoys to peace talks, to which both sides had agreed.
