1. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Slovakia and the Czech Republic from June 2 to 6 to impart further momentum to bilateral relations with the two Central European countries.

2. The 118th meeting, comprising Indus Commissioners of India and Pakistan in progress.

The Indus Water Treaty was signed between India and Pakistan in 1960. India said it is committed to bilateral resolution of issues and suggestions given by Pakistan during a meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission.

3. Enforcement Directorate (ED), in its chargesheet filed in PMLA court, has stated that the Popular Front of India (PFI) raised funds from China and is involved in terror funding. ED stated that PFI is also involved in illegal activities like anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests, inciting violence in the Delhi riots and making posters related to Babri Masjid.

4. The bodies of four Indians, who were among 22 people killed in Tara Air flight crash on May 29, were cremated at Kathmandu’s Pashupatinath temple on Thursday. The deceased, Ashok Kumar Tripathi and his estranged wife Vaibhavi, were onboard the flight with their children as the family was on a court-ordered holiday. Ashok’s relatives were present for the last rites.

1. Pakistan increases petrol, diesel prices by 17% to control fiscal deficit: Now petrol will be priced at 209.86 PKR, diesel at 204.15 PKR, kerosene oil at 181.94 PKR and light diesel at 178.31 PKR.

2. A Pakistani court has granted ex-PM Imran Khan pre-arrest bail till June 25 in cases related to violence that erupted during his Azadi March last month.

3. Sri Lanka is seeking to avail around $5 billion in funding to cover repayments of fuel imports and other items bought through credit lines.

4. North Korea has taken over as the rotating head of the UN-backed Conference on Disarmament. The country, which is currently under sanctions for developing nuclear weapons in defiance of UNSC regulations, gained the presidency as the role rotates in an alphabetical manner among its 65 members. North Korea has conducted over 10 ballistic missile tests since January this year.

5. The number of people displaced within Myanmar has exceeded 1 million for the first time, UN’s new report has stated. The figure includes almost 7 lakh people displaced by violence and insecurity since military seized power in a coup last year.

6. Russia now occupies about 20% of Ukraine’s territory, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said while addressing Luxembourg’s Parliament on Thursday.
