Russia Becomes Indias Top Crude Oil Supplier

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. Russia became one among India’s top three crude oil suppliers, other two are Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Russia became India’s largest oil supplier in October, surpassing traditional top sellers Saudi Arabia and Iraq by supplying an average of 9.35 lakh barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil last month

2. India’s agenda for the Group of Twenty (G20) will be inclusive, ambitious, and action-oriented, said PM Modi.

3. India assumed the Presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of December. It is the second time in its two-year tenure as an elected member of the UN Security Council that India has assumed the Presidency of the Council. India had earlier assumed the Presidency of the UNSC in August 2021. India took over the presidency of G20 for one year, Wassenaar Arrangement for a year presidency of UNSC for one month.

4. US President Joe Biden has said that he is looking forward to supporting his friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi during India’s G20 presidency.

5. The 7th edition of the Global Technology Summit (GTS) was held from November 29 to December 1 in New Delhi.
The Global Technology Summit is India’s flagship annual event on geotechnology that brings together industry experts, policymakers, scientists and other key stakeholders from across the world.

5. The United States and Japan have announced fresh sanctions on North Korea, in response to Pyongyang’s latest ballistic missile tests.
