1. PM Modi and President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih held one on one, restricted and delegation level talks in New Delhi 02 Aug.

2. India has raised concerns over the upcoming visit of a Chinese surveillance ship to Sri Lanka next week, reports said on Tuesday. The matter of Yuan Wang 5’s docking was raised by India at the highest level in Colombo, reports said, following which Sri Lanka said it will only stop to refuel.

1. Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in a CIA drone strike in Afghanistan on Tuesday. He and Osama Bin Laden plotted the 9/11 attacks together, and he was one of America’s most wanted terrorists.

2. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will attend the 77th anniversary of the world’s first atomic bombing at the annual ceremony at Japan’s Hiroshima Peace Memorial.

5. Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Tuesday named Mukhtar Robow, former deputy leader of al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab terrorist group, as the Minister for Religious Affairs. Robow had split from the group in 2013 and publicly denounced the group when he came to the government side in 2017. Al-Shabaab fighters have killed tens of thousands of people in Somalia.

6. Nancy Pelosi’s office said “Our visit is one of several Congressional delegations to Taiwan – and it in no way contradicts longstanding United States policy.
