1. India’s deft diplomacy helped in blocking China’s bid to pass a resolution against US-UK-Australia Nuclear Submarine Deal at the general conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.

2. A women’s rights activist from India, Srishti Bakshi has won the ‘Changemaker‘ award at the UN SDG (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) Action Awards held at a ceremony in Bonn, Germany.

3. UNESCO lists 50 iconic Indian textiles in ‘Handmade for the 21st Century: Safeguarding Traditional Indian Textile.

1. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed treaties on Friday to begin the process of incorporating four Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine into the Russian Federation.

2. Russia has vetoed the Western bid in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to condemn its annexation of Ukrainian territory. The US and Albania tabled a draft resolution at the UNSC condemning Russia’s referenda and annexation of four Ukrainian territories – Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.

3. Liberation War fighters of Bangladesh brought out a protest rally and organised human chain programme in Dhaka against the torture of Uyghur Muslims by China.

4. The World Bank (WB) has cautioned that over-reliance on Ready Made Garment (RMG) exports and the perpetuation of the protective tariff regime may challenge the sustainability of Bangladesh’s growth model.

5. A magistrate of Islamabad’s Margalla Police Station has issued an arrest warrant for Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan, on Saturday.

6. An Iranian woman was arrested after a picture showed her eating at a restaurant without her hijab (headscarf). The woman Donya Rad was summoned by authorities and then arrested. Iran has seen widespread civil unrest after a 22-year-old woman was killed in police custody after being arrested for her ‘improper hijab’.

7. Venezuela on Saturday freed seven jailed Americans, including five oil executives, in exchange for the release of two relatives of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, US officials said.

8. 5.9-magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia’s Sumatra island, 1 killed.
