1. The government’s sugar exports ban has come into effect starting 01 Jun till the end of the festive season in October. India is the largest producer of sugar in the world.

2. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will be on a five day visit to Slovakia and the Czech Republic from 02 June.

He will hold bilateral discussions & also attend the GLOBSEC 2022 Forum and speak on the topic ‘Taking Friendship to the Next Level: Allies in the Indo-Pacific Region’.

3. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, who is on the first leg of his three-nation tour of Gabon, Senegal and Qatar, held wide-ranging talks with the Central African country’s top leadership and business leaders and called for exploring bilateral cooperation in green energy, services, health and agriculture among other sectors.

4. China on 01June said it is ready to take measures to advance normal trade with India amid reports that U.S. has replaced China as India’s biggest trading partner for the financial year 2021-22

5. Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif seeks to forge partnership between Pakistan and India, talks about `mutually beneficial trade`. He was responding to a question about trade with India in an interview with Turkish media.

6. Turkish authorities denied permission to an Indian wheat consignment over phytosanitary concerns, prompting a ship to initiate its return journey on May 29.

The wheat consignment was detected with Indian Rubella disease and was rejected by the Turkish ministry of agriculture and forestry, traders were quoted as saying by S&P Global Commodity Insights on Tuesday.

1. US President Joe Biden has announced that America will send more advanced rocket systems to Ukraine. According to media reports, new weaponry will include the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).

2. Iran dismissed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s latest report on the country’s stockpile of enriched uranium. Iran’s Foreign Ministry in a statement said that it is not fair and does not reflect the truth about the talks between Iran and the agency.

3. Qatar Prince Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani’s former wife Kasia Gallanio has been found dead at her home in Spain. Spanish officials suspect the 45-year-old died of a drug overdose. Gallanio, who married the Qatari royal in 2004, had fought legal battle over custody of their three daughters for 10 years after allegations that he sexually assaulted their eldest child.

4. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Tuesday revised rules for flight permits after 22 people were killed in Tara Air plane crash on Sunday. According to new rules, flight permits will be granted after en-route weather conditions, along with weather at source and destination airports, are looked into. Preliminary probe has indicated that poor weather led to crash.

5. Sri Lanka is in talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to borrow $3 billion under the latter’s Extended Fund Facility, Reuters reported. Sri Lanka expects another round of technical talks with IMF in early June and hopes to reach a staff-level agreement by June-end.
