The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed on Thursday that India’s foreign secretary
Vikram Misri will visit China for two days starting on Sunday, January 26th and 27th, 2025, for a
foreign secretary-vice minister mechanism meeting.

This is the second crucial diplomatic meeting between the two countries’ high officials signifying
growing closeness between India and China after years of coldness.

What are The topics of discussions and talks between them?

During the two-day visit of foreign secretary Vikram Misri to China the focus of their bilateral
talks will be on the following issues:
● Restarting the direct flights between India and China
● Making economic relations more inclusive and win-win for both countries as both are the
fastest-growing economies in the world
● Trying to find a solution to Visa Issues
● There is a good chance that they will also discuss their analysis of the border situation
after the decision to de-escalate the border after the 2020 standoff at Galvan Valley.

The purpose behind the beginning of dialogues is to improve India-China relations and benefit
economically, politically, and strategically from the ties because with instability in West Asia
growing tensions around the USA, and a not conducive environment in South East Asia, India
and China can benefit from each other.

Why Is China Suddenly Interested In Dialogues?

China has always followed aggressive foreign policies towards India and other nations, never
really respecting them, instead trying to find a way to colonize it, especially after its BRI of 2013,
in which it has succeeded to a great extent in the African continent. Even now, it is implementing
the Anaconda strategy in Taiwan.

So, while dealing with China, India needs to step very cautiously, read between the lines, and
after thoroughly analyzing its hidden agenda take action. The sudden interest of China in India
is due to its economy suffering after COVID-19 and to make the situation worse USA is coming
strongly after China with sanctions and policies. Hence, China needs India for India has a
market that can help China to re stabilize the economy.

Future Implications:
Hence, there is a good possibility that if diplomacy goes well for some time then there is a good
chance that India and China will finally be able to resolve long-awaited border disputes.
