The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has made a big announcement regarding
changes it is going to make in the H-1B visa program, which will be in effect from January
17, 2025. This is done in order to immediately fill the gaps and vacancies that have
been created in important US industries due to TrumpтАЩs attitude of intolerance towards
immigrants.
Additionally, this move of DHS is very beneficial for Indians because out of the total
H-1B visa holders majority of them are Indians.
Now, the following are the changes that DHS is going to implement to make the whole
visa process more user-friendly, hassle-free, and less time-consuming for the applicants
of H-1B visas:
1. As per the new rules, now applicants due to reason are unable to make it on the
scheduled appointment then they can reschedule without additional fees for
another date. But this facility can only be used once at a time.
2. Another new rule is that if the applicant has held an H-1B visa earlier, they can
avoid an in-person interview and opt for a background check based on past work
experience. This will help reduce the time for the applicant process, etc.
The US Embassy adds an additional note in their post saying, тАЬThese changes will
make it easier and faster for everyone to get appointments.тАЭ
