Jet Loses Control During Training Exercise
A devastating tragedy occurred in Dhaka on Monday when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a school building, killing at least 20 individuals, the majority of whom were young students. The aircraft, a military trainer aircraft, was said to be conducting routine exercises when it unexpectedly lost control mid-air. Both the pilot and co-pilot have been confirmed by authorities to have ejected from the plane moments before it crashed and sustained injuries.
Crash Site: A Cramped School Campus
The plane crashed right into the main building of a private secondary school in Dhaka’s Kurmitola area. The pilot and co-pilot of the jet ejected themselves from the aircraft moments before it crashed, the Air Force has confirmed. They parachuted to the ground some several hundred meters from the area of impact and were rescued by soldiers. The two are both on observation at a military hospital and are expected to be able to help with the investigation when they stabilize.
Investigation Initiated Into Technical Failure
