11. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially started the process of holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
The last Assembly election was held in J&K in 2014 after which a coalition government of the BJP and the PDP headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed came to power. After Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s death in 2016, the coalition was headed by his daughter, Mehbooba Mufti.
Governor’s Rule was imposed in J&K which was followed by President’s Rule. J&K was made a Union Territory on August 5, 2019 when Articles 370 and 35A were abrogated. Since then the Union Territory of J&K has been headed by the Lieutenant Governor.
12. Buoyed by the I.N.D.I.A bloc’s stunning performance in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress has announced that it will take out a ‘Dhanyawaad Yatra ‘ from June 11 to 15 in all 403 constituencies of the state.

SUPPORT FOR FARMERS : In a significant move to bolster farmer welfare in Rajasthan, the CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced an increase in the honorarium under the state’s farmer support PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the honorarium amount has been raised by ₹2,000, bringing the total to ₹8,000. The annual amount of Rs 6,000 given by the central government to farmers has now been increased to Rs 8,000.

At least three people were killed while six have been injured after a massive fire broke out in a factory in Narela industrial area, New Delhi. A gas leak in one of the pipelines caused the fire to spread in the factory, which led to overheating of the compressor and resulted in a blast.

1. The Reserve Bank of India’s assessment of the domestic economy sets the tone for the first Budget of the new government in July next month.
2. The Reserve Bank of India revised upwards the GDP growth projection for the current fiscal to 7.2 per cent from 7 per cent on rising private consumption and revival of demand in rural areas.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said estimates released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) placed India’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth at 8.2 per cent in 2023-24.

Adani Group plans to invest over USD 1 billion in setting up projects in Sri Lanka to generate electricity from wind in what would be the island nation’s single largest foreign direct investment and the biggest ever power project, sources said. Group firm Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) will set up two wind farms in Sri Lanka’s Mannar town and Pooneryn village in the northern provide with a total installed capacity of 484 megawatt at an investment of about USD 740 million.

1. The Silver Jubilee (25th) Passing Out Parade of Officers’ Training Academy, Gaya took place on June 08, 2024. The parade witnessed a total of 118 officer cadets passing through the Antim Pag and becoming Commissioned Officers in the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles. Fifty eight (58) officer cadets of Special Commissioned Officers Course (Serial Number 52), including 15 from Assam Rifles; and 60 of Technical Entry Scheme (Serial Number 43) were commissioned as Officers during the event.
Vice Chief of the Army Staff Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi was the Reviewing Officer of the parade. Academy Under Officer Pankaj Sharma was the Parade Commander of the 25th Passing Out Parade. The Vice Chief of the Army Staff also gave away the medals to the officer cadets who have displayed exemplary performance during their training.
2. Indian Military Academy passing out parade of spring term 2024. A total of 394 officer cadets of 154 Regular Course and 137 Technical Graduate Course, including 39 from 10 friendly countries, passed out from the portals of Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Uttarakhand on 08 June 2024.
3. Sub-Lieutenant Anamika B Rajeev has become the Indian Navy’s first woman helicopter pilot after she received the prestigious “Golden Wings” following completion of a rigorous training at a naval air station in Tamil Nadu’s Arakkonam.
4. Indian Army has concluded the first series of White Water Rafting Expeditions in Uttarakhand on Wednesday (June 5), covering the challenging waters of rivers Mandakini, Alaknanda, Bhagirathi and Ganges.
The expedition, which began on May 25, unfolded across six phases along the Rishikesh- Devprayag- Srinagar- Rudraprayag axis, encompassing a distance of approximately 300 kilometers. Led by Lieutenant Colonel BN Jha, the team comprised of 02 Officers, 01 JCO and 21 Other Ranks.
5. The Indian Navy has been looking for six submarines under its Project-75I (I stands for India). These submarines will have Fuel Cell Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology combined with a Lithium-ion battery, which will give them the capability to lurk in the ocean depths for a longer duration and, when required, race to their target at high speeds while not giving up their position.
6. Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal V. R. Chaudhari flew a sortie in a Eurofighter aircraft at a German airbase on Friday, 7 June. Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari is currently on a visit to Germany.
7. Ajit Doval’s tenure as a National Security Advisor (NSA) ended on June 3 and he has already conveyed to the caretaker Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his unwillingness to continue the top job. The appointment committee of the cabinet has started working on the agenda to find a new NSA.
