1. The Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, has come into effect from today. The government has issued a notification to this effect following the assent given by President Droupadi Murmu to the legislation.

2. PM Modi interacted with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana at his residence in New Delhi on the 10th anniversary of the scheme. The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana provides collateral-free loans of up to 20 lakh rupees to micro and small enterprises.

3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.
Shri Amit Shah, called for the complete eradication of terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring zero infiltration from across the border.

4. The government has issued notification to the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme. Recently the Union Cabinet had approved this Scheme with a funding of 22 thousand 919 crore rupees to make India Atmanirbhar in electronics supply chain.

5. PM Modi will participate in the Navkar Mahamantra Divas in New Delhi today.

7. The Odisha Government signed 13 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry at the Odisha Investors’ Meet in New Delhi. Under the MoUs, Odisha will receive investments totaling over 8 lakh 96 thousand crore rupees.

8. Union Health Ministry has agreed to release the pending dues of the Punjab State Health Agency under the Ayushman Insurance Scheme. Health Minister J P Nadda assured Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh that approximately 50 crore rupees would be released for the successful operation of the scheme.

9. The Kerala state government has approved the ropeway project connecting Wayanad and Kozhikode districts. The 3.675-kilometre-long ropeway that connects Lakkidi with Adivaram will be the longest in South India.

10. The central government has approved the expansion of Hyderabad’s Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) at an estimated cost of Rs 1,169 crore.

11. Under the PM e-Bus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) scheme, three states, namely Gujarat, Telangana and Karnataka, have placed requests with the Centre for 15,000 electric buses (e-buses) at a subsidised price.

India aims to deploy 50,000 e-buses by 2030, with a focus on nine major cities and seven states — Gujarat, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal — under the National Electric Bus Program (NEBP), which was launched in 2022.

12. Padma Shri Ram Sahay Pandey, a legendary figure in Rai folk dance, passed away at 92 after a prolonged illness. He died in a private hospital in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.

1. A special court in Rajasthan sentenced all four convicts to life imprisonment in connection with the 2008 Jaipur serial bomb blasts case.

2. National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched multiple locations linked with Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

3. The Supreme Court ruled that Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi acted “illegal and erroneous” by reserving 10 bills, re-adopted by the state assembly, for the President’s approval.

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the union government to ensure strict implementation of its earlier direction for issuing orders restraining the media from telecasting/publishing any false, defamatory statement against actress Harshavardini Ranya Rao and her father IPS officer K Ramchandra Rao.

5. A contract worker (Saqib Khan) with the electricity department in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur has been dismissed for allegedly waving a Palestine flag on Eid.

6. Officials from the Directorate of Enforcement (Chennai Zone) are conducting a search at the residence of Manivannan, who is the younger brother of KN Nehru, minister for municipal administration, urban and water supply, at Masakalipalayam in Coimbatore city.

7. Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan has ordered an investigation into reports that some students missed their JEE examination in the Pendurthi area due to delays caused by his convoy, according to an official statement from the chief minister’s office on April 8.

1. The Department of Financial Services in the Finance Ministry has notified amalgamation of 26 Regional Rural Banks, (RRBs) on the principles of “One State One RRB”. This is the fourth phase of amalgamation of RRBs.

1. AWWA has undergone a major change itself as Army Women’s Welfare Association. A functionary body of the Indian Army, it was earlier called Army Wives Welfare Association. AWWA, registered as a Welfare Society with the Registrar of Societies Delhi Administration in 1966, changed its name on April 2.

2. India has strategically deployed Russian-built S-400 long-range air defence systems to protect the vulnerable Siliguri Corridor—a narrow 20-22 km stretch known as the “Chicken’s Neck” that serves as the sole land connection between mainland India and its north-eastern states.This deployment comes amid intensifying regional tensions, particularly with China’s growing military influence in Bangladesh.

3. The Indian Army has recently made a significant move to enhance its armoured capabilities by issuing a Request for Information (RFI) on April 6, 2025, for the procurement of approximately 75 platform-based Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) for its T-72 and T-90 main battle tanks.

4. The Indian Navy has submitted a proposal to the Defence Ministry for constructing a second indigenous aircraft carrier, known as IAC-II. This project is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Atmanirbhar” campaign to enhance self-reliance in defence capabilities.The Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kerala is slated to undertake this project.

5. India is on the verge of finalizing a significant defence deal with France to acquire 26 Rafale M naval fighter jets for its aircraft carriers. The deal is valued at approximately ₹63,000 crore and includes the purchase of 22 single-seater and four twin-seater Rafale M jets.
