1. The Festival of Ganesh Chaturthi being celebrated across the country with traditional fervour. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the people on this occasion.

2. IMD forecasts enhanced rainfall over Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during next four days.

3. Union Health Minister JP Nadda yesterday inaugurated and dedicated two super speciality government hospitals at Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur in Bihar with a cost of 350 crore rupees and comprising 210 beds each.

4. Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has criticized the opposition parties for trying to bring back the old system in Jammu and Kashmir and start talks with Pakistan. Addressing party workers in Jammu, he asserted that till there is no peace, there will be no talks with Pakistan.

5. The Jharkhand government has decided to provide medical insurance of 5 lakh rupees for lawyers in the state, likely to benefit about 30 thousand lawyers of the state. The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

6. Around one crore and 37 lakh activities have been conducted as part of the ongoing seventh Rashtriya Poshan Maah so far. The Poshan Maah which began on 1st of September will continue till 30th of this month.

The one month campaign which was launched from Gujarat focuses on key themes including Anaemia, Growth Monitoring, Complementary Feeding, and Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, along with Technology for better governance across the nation. The campaign also emphasizes environmental sustainability through the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative in which plantation is encouraged across all the operational 13.95 lakh Anganwadi centres.

7. The Telangana government has announced 29 out of 33 districts in the state as flood-hit districts. The state government has also announced an assistance of three crore rupees for each of these districts to carry out immediate relief works.

8. The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) celebrated its 8th Foundation Day in collaboration with the National Council of Applied Economic Research.

9. School Education and Literacy Secretary, Sanjay Kumar chaired an international conference on Spectrum of Literacy in New Delhi.

10. In the Mega Oil Palm Plantation Drive 2024, over 17 lakh saplings have been planted so far. The plantation drive has covered more than 12,000 hectares across 15 states in India. The initiative was launched under the National Mission on Edible Oil-Palm on 15th of July this year.

11. The fourth meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to examine the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024, was held on Friday.

12. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday that all new applicants for Aadhaar cards in Assam must submit their National Register of Citizens (NRC) application receipt number (ARN).

Assam to be ‘very strict’, NRC application must to get Aadhar card. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

13. The Rajasthan State Cabinet has approved a 33% reservation for women in the police force, aligning with the BJP’s election promise. It also approved pension policy amendments to include specially-abled family members and a 5% additional allowance for pensioners aged 70-75.

1. West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has sent the Aparajita Woman and Child (West Bengal Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill 2024 to President Droupadi Murmu citing a number of loopholes in it. The bill was passed by the State Assembly in the aftermath of the gruesome rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar hospital in Kolkata on the 9th of last month.

2. Centre discharges the 2023 batch IAS Probationer Puja Khedkar from service with immediate effect. She was found guilty of cheating and wrongly availing Other Backward Classes (OBC) and disability quota benefits and fraudulently clearing the civil services examination held by the Union Public Service Commission.

3. The Hyderabad Excise Department has seized an ice cream parlour in Jubilee Hills for selling whiskey-laced ice cream and arrested several individuals involved. The parlour, operated by Sharath Chandra Reddy, was mixing whiskey into the ice cream and selling it at high prices. Further investigation is underway.

4. In a money laundering probe initiated at the direction of the Supreme Court, the ED on Saturday attached assets worth Rs 5,115 crore of Gurugram-based Amtek Auto Ltd. The company is accused of siphoning off Rs 27,000 crore from govt banks.

The Union Ministry of Finance is planning to consolidate the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) under a policy of “One State, One RRB” to improve their efficiency and avoid undue competition among sponsoring public sector banks. “The ‘One State, One RRB’ policy is on the table, and work is underway. We aim to reduce the total number of RRBs from 43 at present to around 30.

The controversy erupted when some viewers accused the series of deliberately fudging the religious identities of the five terrorists involved in the hijacking. The controversy was over “Hindu names” used as aliases by the Pakistani terrorists involved in the hijacking.

The Delhi-bound Indian Airlines Flight IC 814, with 179 passengers onboard, was hijacked by 5 Muslims soon after it took off from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport on 24 December 1999. After days of intense negotiations, the hostages were released on 31 December 1999.

1. Director General of BSF Daljit Singh Chawdhary on Saturday visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district to review the operational preparedness of the force.

2. 258 officer cadets and 39 women officer cadets were commissioned into various arms and services of the Indian Army at an impressive ceremony at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, on Saturday.

3. The ‘Passing Out Parade,’ held at the Parameshwaran Drill Square of the institute, was reviewed by the Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani.
Ten officer cadets and five officer cadets (women) from friendly foreign countries also successfully completed their training, fostering bonds of camaraderie and cooperation across international borders.

4. The Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai held a special ceremony to honor the proud parents of the officer cadets of the upcoming Passing Out Course. The event, led by Commandant Lt Gen Michael AJ Fernandez, saw the presentation of the “Gaurav Padak” to parents in recognition of their selfless contribution to their wards’ journey into the Indian Army.

The Gaurav Padak is awarded to acknowledge the sacrifices and support of the cadets’ families, highlighting the crucial role they play in shaping the future defenders of India.

5. For the first time in twenty five years, the Pakistani Army has officially acknowledged its involvement in the 1999 Kargil War against India. During a Defence Day event on Friday in Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, spoke about the sacrifices made by the country’s soldiers in the wars of 1965, 1971, and the Kargil conflict.

6. NO DISABILITY BENEFITS FOR INJURY DURING LEAVE : The Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) has ruled that a disability resulting from an injury in a road accident during leave cannot be attributed to military service and, therefore, the individual concerned is not entitled to any consequential benefits.

7. Recently India and Saudi Arabia conducted the sixth edition of Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC) meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on September 4, 2024. The two countries discussed new avenues to further strengthen the long standing and multi-faceted defence cooperation.
