1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu has said that the government is working for the upliftment of all sections of society, including Scheduled Tribes. Addressing women representatives belonging to Scheduled Tribes from the Panchayati Raj Institutions of different states at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 06 Jan.

9. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the Exam Warriors Art Festival for helping students overcome exam stress through art. The Exam Warriors Art Festival was organised in New Delhi on 4th January. Students from 30 schools across grades 9 to 12 participated in this event to showcase their creativity.

10. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the Government of India Calendar for 2025 in New Delhi. The government has chosen “Janbhagidari se Jankalyan” as the central theme for its 2025 calendar, underscoring the ethos of transformative governance.

11. Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that the e-Shram portal records an average of over 30,000 registrations per day by unorganized workers. He made this statement while launching the multilingual functionality of the e-Shram portal in New Delhi.

12. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari chaired a meeting of Transport Ministers from all States and Union Territories at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

14. The Centre has cleared the appointment of judges in the High Courts of Delhi and Uttarakhand. In a social media post, Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed advocates Ajay Digpaul and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar as judges of the Delhi High Court, and judicial officer Ashish Naithani as a judge of the Uttarakhand High Court.

15. The Centre has appointed V Narayanan as the new Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Secretary of the Department of Space. Mr Narayanan will assume office on January 14.

1. ‘Pushpa 2’ movie 20 minutes of new footage: To milk more money and attract the audiences for a further run, they have decided to add additional footage and screen it. Starting January 11, cinemas will show an expanded cut with an additional 20 minutes of fresh footage. This reloaded version will include a number of new scenes that are believed to increase the film’s overall appeal. Yet, the film scripted new history by collecting Rs 1800 crore worldwide.

1. Brigadier VS Chauhan has taken over as the Group Commander, Chandigarh NCC Group, succeeding Brigadier Harpreet Singh, who retired on December 31, 2024. He will be heading the four units comprising the group that includes an Army battalion, an air squadron, a naval unit and a girls’ battalion with a strength of around 5,000 cadets.

2. The Indian Navy’s latest guided missile, INS Tushil, has completed its inaugural port visit to Dakar, Senegal. The Defence Ministry, in a statement, said that during its three-day stay in Dakar, Captain Peter Varghese engaged with the Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, Rear Admiral Abdou Sene. Discussions were held on strengthening naval cooperation and shared maritime security initiatives.
