Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, has said that the number of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has increased from six to 23, creating a strong network of world-class healthcare institutions across the country. He was addressing a convocation ceremony at an educational institution in Faridabad.

10. Union Public Service Commission-UPSC has extended the operational hours of its call centre to provide enhanced support and guidance to aspirants. UPSC in a statement said that the call centre will remain operational on all days including Saturday, Sunday, and holidays till the submission of application forms for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) Examination 2026. It will function in two shifts from 7 AM to 9 PM.

1. Col Seema Mishra, took charge as the principal of the Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey Uttar Pradesh Sainik School in Lucknow, becoming the first woman army officer to lead the 65-year-old institution.

2. Sagar Defence (SDE) has announced a strategic investment in Endure Air Systems, a Kanpur-based start-up specialising in unmanned aerial systems.

3. The Indian Army is moving to strengthen its air surveillance capabilities by planning to acquire 30 advanced low-level lightweight radars (LLLR-I) along with two Classroom Variant Radars (CVRs).The initiative forms part of a broader effort to integrate these radars with the AkashTeer Command and Reporting (C&R) system, enhancing the Army’s ability to monitor airspace across varied terrain.

4. The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS MK-1A (MK-1A), India’s advanced indigenous fighter jet, has completed critical weapons firing trials and associated software updates, with certification now pending, according to a source at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).These trials encompassed air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions, including the indigenous Astra beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile.

5. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) busted an international oil smuggling racket through a sea-air network-centred operation. The vessels involved devised a method to smuggle large volumes of cheap oil and oil-based cargo from conflict-ridden countries. The operation was conducted yesterday following the interception of three suspect vessels about 100 nautical miles west of Mumbai on the 5th of this month.

1. The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Friday stayed criminal defamation proceedings filed against the makers of the feature film Article 370.

The defamation complaint was filed by a man who alleged that his photo was used in the film without his consent to depict a terrorist, thereby harming his reputation.

2. Actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered to the Tihar Jail authorities in Delhi on Thursday after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him any relief in his cheque-bounce cases. The actor had sought an extension of the deadline for his surrender.
