1. Preparations are in full swing in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana for counting of votes on Tuesday for the assembly elections.

2. Former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind who headed the high-level committee on One Nation-One Election, has said that India will greatly benefit from adopting simultaneous elections in its steady march towards a Viksit Bharat. Sale and consumption of meat and liquor will be strictly prohibited within the periphery of Maha Kumbh Mela area, Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath said on Sunday.Kumbh Mela, recognized by UNESCO as an ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,’ is regarded as the world’s largest peaceful gathering of pilgrims. With the motto “Sarvasiddhipradah Kumbhah”.

6. Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated a flyover at Mith Chowky in Mumbai’s western suburban Malad area, connecting Marve to the western express highway.

7. Karnataka Waqf Board announced a major decision to establish women’s colleges across districts of the state. This initiative aims to reintegrate Muslim girls into the educational system after many were forced to drop out due to restrictions on wearing hijabs in schools and colleges.

MBBS or BDS graduates getting admitted to postgraduate medical/dental degree courses in Karnataka Government medical institutes must undergo three years of compulsory rural service or pay Rs 50 lakh as a penalty. Besides, the bond service penalty is Rs 25 lakh for the candidates getting admitted to PG medical/dental diploma courses.

9. During the Indian Air Force (IAF) airshow at Chennai’s Marina Beach, four attendees tragically lost their lives, and 96 others were hospitalised due to heatstroke. The event took place on Sunday as part of the 92nd IAF Day celebrations. This unfortunate incident has been reported by various media outlets.

10. The India Meteorological Department has forecast that conditions are favourable for withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra during the next three days. The IMD also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Karnataka during the next three days.

1. The Narcotics Control Bureau in collaboration with Gujarat ATS has recovered drugs worth more than 1800 crore rupees from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. Two persons have also been arrested in this case. The drugs have been recovered from a factory operating in Bagroda village near Bhopal.

2. National Investigation Agency (NIA) has carried out searches at multiple raids in connection with an ongoing investigation into a terror financing case involving Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). The raids were conducted across five states and Union Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Delhi, covering 26 locations.

3. A group of lawyers have written to the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) against the decision to resume serving of non-vegetarian food at a Supreme Court canteen during the Navratra festival.

5. In Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal leaders Vardev Singh Noni Mann, his brother Nardev Singh Bobby Mann and 15-20 unidentified persons were booked for attempt to murder in connection with an attack on a local Aam Aadmi Party leader in Punjab’s Fazilka district.

Twenty-one policemen were injured after a mob hurled stones at them in Maharashtra’s Amravati city to demand registration of a case for a Hindu seer’s “objectionable” remarks against Prophet Mohammad. The police later registered a case against the Hindu seer, Yati Narsinghanand Maharaj from Ghaziabad, for his remarks against the prophet.

1. The 92nd anniversary of the Indian Airforce began with a mega airshow at Chennai yesterday. After 21 years, the air show was held over the skies of Marina which was watched directly by 15 lakh people entering into the Limca book of records.

2. Indian Naval Ships Tir, Shardul and Indian Coast Guard Ship Veera of First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy on long range training deployment arrived at Muscat, Oman on 05 Oct 24. The port call further signifies strengthening of existing defence relations between India and Oman in maritime domain.

3. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted three flight tests of the 4th Generation Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) at the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan. The tests, conducted in the last two days were carried out against a high-speed target, demonstrating very critical parameters of maximum range and maximum altitude interception.

4. The Indian Air Force proved its capability to strike down Chinese spy balloon type targets at a very high altitude of 55,000 plus feet along the eastern front recently.In early 2023, the US government had used a fifth generation F-22 Raptor fighter jet to shoot down a Chinese spy balloon over the sea.

5. Russia has promised to deliver the last two S-400 air defence systems to India in 2025. This is clear from the statement of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Commander of the Indian Air Force, during a press conference.

6. Two women officers of the Indian Navy — Lt. Cdr Roopa A. and Lt. Cdr Dilna K. — on Wednesday embarked from Goa on a challenging mission to circumnavigate the globe in over eight months.

The ‘Navika Sagar Parikrama’ expedition was flagged off from the Naval Ocean Sailing Node, INS Mandovi near Panaji, as both the officers sailed on the Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) ‘Tarini’.
