3. In Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision, SIR exercise by another month. Voters can now submit Forms 6, 7 and 8 till March 6, 2026 to add their names, seek corrections or request deletions from the electoral rolls. The earlier deadline was February 6.
4. The 39th edition of Surajkund International Crafts Mela at Faridabad, Haryana, is running with enthusiasm and great fervour. This year, the theme is Vocal to Global, with Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya as the theme states, displaying their respective culture.
5. SIR in Telangana Likely During April–May: The Chief Electoral Officer informed the parties that the SIR is currently underway in 12 states, and that the schedule for the remaining states, including Telangana, is expected to be announced during April–May 2026.
6. The second Telangana Seed Festival will be at The Earth Center, Anumaspally, Kadtal, Rangareddy district, from February 6 to 8, 2026. The festival is being organised by the Council for Green Revolution (CGR) with the support of Bharat Beej Swaraj Manch and several allied organisations.

3. Independent Bihar MP Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, was arrested by Patna Police late Friday (February 6, 2026) from his residence in Patna in connection with a case dating back to 1995. The case registered under section 467 (forgery of documents) of the Indian Penal Code.
4. Seven Maoists, including senior commander Prabhakar, were killed in an encounter with security forces near Fodewada village on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border in Bhamragad taluka. The gunfight, which began on February 3, involved C-60 commandos, CRPF, and Quick Response Teams.
5. The Supreme Court on Thursday (February 5, 2026) adjourned to February 9 the hearing on a plea filed by Gitanjali J. Angmo, wife of jailed climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, against his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).

7. Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police for the Southern Range SK Jain said that Delhi Police launched Operation Shastra to target those individuals who were sharing pictures of themselves with weapons on online social media platforms and using abusive language.

1. Sarthak Mahapatra, a merchant navy cadet from Odisha, has gone missing while on duty aboard the vessel EA Jersey. The incident occurred during the vessel’s return journey to Singapore from West Africa under unclear circumstances.
2. A serious accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway caused a major traffic disruption lasting more than 31 hours. On Tuesday (Feb 3) evening, a tanker carrying propylene gas overturned in the Khandala Ghat section near the Adoshi Tunnel. Drone footage captured the full extent of the resulting congestion with the three-lane highway packed solid with vehicles stretching for 20-30 km in places.

1. The Defense Ministry says it has signed a NIS 400 million ($130 million) deal with Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit for advanced systems for the Israeli Air Force’s future delivery of heavy helicopters.
A first batch of the 12 new Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion choppers are expected to be delivered by the end of this year.
2. Union Home Minister Amit Shah participates in the traditional ‘Bada Khana’ meal with soldiers at the Bobia Border Outpost along the India–Pakistan border in Jammu.
4. Indian Army Launches ‘Friends For Life’ Platform To Boost Military Ties With 99 NationsAccording to the Indian Army, the platform will serve as a bridge connecting generations of military leaders from 99 countries who have trained together at the Indian Army training establishments.
5. India successfully test-fired the Agni-Three intermediate-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. The launch was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command as part of a routine training exercise to validate the operational and technical preparedness of the missile system.
6. Headquarters Western Air Command conducted a two-day high-level Joint Operations Conclave under the framework of the All Domain Joint Operations Exercise 2026. The Ministry of Defence, in a statement, said the conclave was aimed at strengthening joint operational capabilities and deepening inter-service coordination in an increasingly complex multi-domain environment.
