9. The Centre has approved the release of over 944 crore rupees for Tamil Nadu to provide relief assistance to people affected by Cyclone Fengal.

The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, launched ‘Anna Chakra’ and SCAN (Subsidy Claim Application for NFSA) portal, marking a significant step toward modernizing India’s Public Distribution System (PDS) and subsidy claim.

5. A large number of students on Friday staged a protest at Udai Pratap College in Varanasi demanding removal of a mosque located on the institute’s campus.

Former student union leader Vivekanand Singh contented that since the land for the tomb does not belong to the Waqf Board, it should be removed from the campus.

6. A Class 12 student allegedly shot dead the principal of his school in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district on Friday afternoon after being admonished.

The teenager allegedly shot principal S K Saxena (55) in the head with a locally-made pistol near the toilet at Dhamora Government High School.

Uttar Pradesh, at least 8 people died and around 18 were seriously injured in a road accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Sakarawa police station area of Kannauj district on Friday. The accident took place when a double-decker bus traveling from Lucknow to Delhi lost control and overturned after colliding with a truck parked on the expressway.

1. The Reserve Bank on Friday announced the decision on interest rate after the conclusion of the three-day monetary policy panel meeting, amid high inflation and weak GDP growth numbers.

Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das headed six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) started its meeting to decide on the next set of bi-monthly monetary policy on Wednesday.

1. Government launches 24 X 7 Indian Sign Language channel, PM e-Vidya : Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the PM e-Vidya DTH 24×7 channel for Indian Sign Language (ISL) in New Delhi on Friday.

2. 12th Puducherry International Documentary and Short Film Festival is set to begin in the Union Territory. The three-day festival will showcase 35 short films and documentaries from across the world. The event is being organised by the Department of Electronic Media and Mass Communication at Pondicherry University, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation of India.

1. The Indian Navy is poised to bolster its maritime prowess with the commissioning of its newest multi-role stealth guided-missile frigate, INS Tushil, at Kaliningrad, Russia, on the 9th of December. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the event as the chief guest.

INS Tushil is equipped with cutting-edge technologies. It is an upgraded Krivak III-class frigate under Project 1135.6. This 3,900-ton warship features a blend of Indian and Russian cutting-edge technologies, boasting enhanced stealth and stability features.

2. On December 5, 2024, India and China held the 32nd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) in New Delhi. This meeting marked a significant step in addressing border tensions that have persisted since the clashes in 2020.
