1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Pamban vertical lift sea bridge and lays foundation for 8,300 Crore rupees worth rail and road projects in Tamil Nadu.

2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu has given her assent to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which was passed by Parliament last week. After the Presidential assent, it has become a law. The Legislation was passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, with 288 members supporting it and 232 against it.

3. Former Kerala Minister M A Baby has been elected as the 6th General Secretary of the CPI-M at the 24th Party Congress which concluded at Madurai in Tamil Nadu.

4. In Punjab, senior farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal ended his fast at Fatehgarh Sahib today. He announced that he would end his fast but would continue leading the farmers’ movement with renewed strength. He was on a fast since November 2024 to get farmers’ demands met, including a legal guarantee on MSP.

5. The five-day Madhavpur Ghed fair began yesterday at Madhavpur in the Porbandar district of Gujarat. The festival is organized every year to celebrate the divine Union of Dwarikadhish Shri Krishna and Rukshmani ji, uniting the Cultures of Western and Northeastern India and realize the PM’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

6. Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) today released the 26th edition of its publication Women and Men in India 2024.

8. Meghalaya Govt Begins Process to Return Railway Land Acquisition Funds to Centre :Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma informed that the state government has initiated the process of returning funds to the Centre that were originally allocated for land acquisition related to the proposed railway project in Khasi Hills, including the Byrnihat-Shillong route.

9. The central government has approved a key road upgrade project to improve travel between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The project involves upgrading a section of National Highway 115 (NH-115) from a standard two-lane road to a two-lane road with paved shoulders.

13. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heat wave conditions over Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab during the next 4 to 5 days. It forecasts a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C over many parts of Northwest India, Maharashtra and South Peninsular during the next 4 days.

1. Police have invoked the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section for “terrorist act” against two men arrested in the case of blast at a mosque in Maharashtra’s Beed district.

2. Amid the ongoing controversy over the Malayalam film ‘L2: Empuraan’ and its alleged references to the 2002 Gujarat riots, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has recovered ₹1.5 crore from one of the film’s producers, Gokulam Gopalan, in connection with a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case. The agency also found that the company had collected ₹371.80 crore in cash and ₹220.74 crore via cheque from NRIs. It was also revealed that significant amounts were paid back in cash to these individuals, violating Section 3(b) of FEMA, 1999.

1. A 170-kilometre padyatra of Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited, from Jamnagar to Dwarkadhish Temple, was completed yesterday, April 6. Anant Ambani’s padyatra arrived at the Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat.

2. Tata Advanced Systems has acquired 7.4 lakh square feet of land in Karnataka’s Vemgal Industrial Area for ₹29.34 crore. The land will be used for aircraft manufacturing, including final assembly, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).

1. Union Home Minister Amit Shah Begins 3-Day Visit to J&K, to Review Security & Meet Martyrs’ Families. the Union Home Minister will meet the families of martyred policemen at the Raj Bhawan in Jammu. Four policemen were martyred while fighting terrorists in the Kathua district on March 23.

2. INS Trikand has provided urgent critical medical assistance to a Pakistani crew of a fishing vessel operating approximately 350 nautical miles east of the Oman coast. The Defence Ministry said that the Navy’s Mission Deployed stealth frigate, INS Trikand, intercepted a distress call from an Iranian dhow, Al Omeedi, where a crew member had sustained severe injuries to his fingers while working on the engine and was in critical condition.

3. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that Myanmar’s Senior General Min Aung Hlaing yesterday visited the Indian Army’s Field Hospital in Mandalay. The ministry added that the field ambulance has been deployed as part of Operation Brahma.

4. India plans to commission its strategic new naval base for nuclear submarines and other warships in coastal Andhra Pradesh next year, with an eye on China’s ever-expanding naval forays into the Indian Ocean Region. India is also progressively upgrading the Karwar base in Karnataka on the western seaboard.

5. Indian Army successfully showcases MUM-T capability during Exercise SARVSHAKTI.

Exercise SARVSHAKTI was aimed at enhancing interoperability, rapid decision-making, and battlefield awareness by using drones, autonomous systems, and AI-enabled platforms. Demonstrating human-machine synergy in a live tactical environment, it sets a new benchmark for tech-enabled warfare.
