1. The junior doctors, protesting over the rape and murder of their colleague at the RG Kar hospital, on Saturday evening went on fast unto death, claiming that their demands were not fulfilled by the West Bengal government.
The doctors had on Friday begun a sit-in at Dorina Crossing in Dharmatala, setting a 24-hour deadline for the state government to fulfil their demands as promised.
2. In Chhattisgarh, police have recovered bodies of three more Maoists from the encounter site. The number of Maoists, killed in the encounter with security forces in Abhujmaad area on Friday has risen to 31. Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj Pattilingam said.
3. The Hyderabad Police on Saturday filed a case against Yati Narsinghanand, head priest of a temple in Uttar Pradesh, after a complaint was registered by the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM over the former’s alleged derogatory remarks against the Prophet Muhammad.
4. A special court in Pune has summoned Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in a criminal defamation case filed by the grandnephew of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, accusing the Congress leader of making objectionable remarks against the Hindutva ideologue. The court issued the summons to Gandhi on Friday, asking him to appear before it on October 23.
5. The Supreme Court has dismissed a batch of pleas seeking review of its February 15 verdict, which had scrapped the PM Modi government’s electoral bonds scheme of anonymous political funding.
6. A joint team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles seized arms and explosives during a search operation at Khengmol hill in Churachandpur district.
7. A sudden major cyberattack in Uttarakhand brought the entire IT system of the state to a standstill, which has had a serious impact on government work.

1. Dance choreographer Jani Master, who recently granted interim bail to attend National Film Awards ceremony, got a big shock. The National Film Awards jury has decided to revoke his award. Jani Basha had obtained interim bail to attend the award ceremony in New Delhi on October 8.
Following the filing of a POCSO case against him for abusing and harassing his colleague, the award jury committee decided to cancel the award. Earlier, the committee announced Best Choreography for the Tamil film “Thiruchitrambalam,” for which he composed dance steps.

1. DRDO successfully conducts flight tests of 4th Generation Very Short Range Air Defence System at Pokhran in Rajasthan.
2. In Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Srinagar based Chinar Corps in a social media post said that on an intelligence input about an infiltration attempt, a joint operation by Indian Army and J&K Police was launched at Gugaldhar in Kupwara.
3. The National Investigation Agency is carrying out searches at 22 locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Delhi. The search operations are ongoing in connection with a case related to activities of terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
4. India will host the four-nation Malabar naval exercise beginning Tuesday amid evolving security situation in the region.
The navies of India, the United States, Australia and Japan will carry out a series of complex naval drills during the ‘sea phase’ of the mega wargame.
“Exercise Malabar 2024 is scheduled to take place from October 8 to 18, beginning with the Harbour Phase in Visakhapatnam, followed by the sea phase,” the Indian Navy announced on Saturday.
