1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and most parts of North-East India till tomorrow. Heavy rainfall is very likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the next three to four days.

2. BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed the party’s state Incharge and Co-incharge for 24 States and Union Territories.

3. In a landmark event for India’s cultural diplomacy, the nation is set to host the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee from 21 July to 31 Jul 2024.

4. In Assam, over 24 lakh people are reeling under the fury of floods in the state. Several rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are flowing above the danger level due to incessant rains.

5. In Manipur, the flood situation has been improving slowly as the water level receded in all major rivers and no heavy rainfall has been recorded in the last twelve hours.

8. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is launching a new MA programme in Bhagavad Gita Studies starting July 2024. The course, offered through open and distance learning, spans 2 to 4 years.

9. The state government of Karnataka has transferred 23 IAS officers, following the transfer of 29 IPS officers over the past three days.

10. NEET-PG Entrance Examination 2024 will be held on 11th of next month and to be conducted in two shifts. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has issued the revised schedule of the examination.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, NBEMS will conduct the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination ( FMGE ) June 2024 today. The examination is being held at 71 Centres in 50 cites across the country.

11. The government has mandated conformity to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for stainless steel and aluminium utensils to enhance kitchen safety, quality and efficiency. According to an order issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the ISI mark will be compulsory for such utensils.

12. Senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Dhirendra K Ojha has been appointed as the principal spokesperson of the central government.

13. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu will meet each other today at a meeting to be held at Praja Bhavan, for finding a solution to unresolved issues between two Telugu states after the bifurcation of the composite state of Andhra Pradesh.

14. Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited is all set to print QR codes on the electricity bills from next month for the convenience of customers. This comes after reports of consumers facing issues with bill payments via the government website.

15. The clamour for the ‘Special Category Status’ for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh came back into the spotlight after the Janata Dal (United) and Telugu Desam Party emerged as the key constituents of the National Democratic Alliance, which formed the coalition government after the recent Lok Sabha elections.

16. Jailed radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh and Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who were granted parole to take oath as members of the Lok Sabha, were sworn in as MPs on Friday, amid heavy deployment of security personnel in and around the Parliament complex.

1. Justice Sheel Nagu has been appointed Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court by the Centre, succeeding Acting Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia.

2. In Bihar, 15 engineers of Water Resources and other departments have been suspended, and a construction agency has been blacklisted in connection with the recent collapse of nine bridges in different districts of the state.

3. The Delhi High Court issued a notice to the CBI on a bail plea filed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the money laundering case linked to the alleged liquor policy scam.

During the hearing, the counsel representing CBI objected to filing of the bail plea directly before the High Court, adding that Chief Minister Kejriwal should have first approached the trial court for bail.

4. Devprakash Madhukar, the main accused in the July 2 Hathras stampede that claimed 121 lives, was taken into custody after he surrendered before police in Delhi. Police are also looking for preacher Surajpal alias Narayan Sakar Hari alias Bhole Baba for questioning in the case.

5. The National Commission for Women has taken suo moto cognizance of the derogatory remark made by Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra against its chairperson Rekha Sharma and sought an FIR against her.

6. The Delhi high court on Friday issued notices to Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera and Ragini Nayak on a plea by veteran journalist Rajat Sharma claiming they have deliberately and wilfully not complied with the order directing them to remove alleged offensive social media posts against him.

7. The mother of jailed radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh, who took oath as a member of Parliament on Friday, said her son is not a Khalistani supporter and demanded that he be released immediately so that he can work on the issues on which he fought the elections.

1. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has begun consultations with veterans of the three services (Army, Navy and Air Force) on the Agnipath recruitment scheme. Chauhan also recently visited the Agniveer training centres of the three services and took stock of the ground situation. He says Agnipath scheme a major reform in defence sector.

2. Indian Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has met with the newly-appointed army chief of Bangladesh General Waker-Uz-Zaman, and discussed the robust bilateral ties and explored new avenues for cooperation between the two armed forces.Admiral Tripathi began a five-day visit to Bangladesh on June 30.

3. Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff of India, marked a historic milestone by becoming the first foreign head of service to review the Passing Out Parade at the Bangladesh Naval Academy on July 4, 2024.

During this prestigious event, Admiral Tripathi addressed the 68 graduating officers, invoking the vision of ‘Sonar Bangla’ articulated by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the valor of the Mukti Bahini during the 1971 Liberation War.

4. The Ministry of Defence has sanctioned over ₹300 crore through its Technology Development Fund (TDF) to create an ecosystem aimed at enhancing capabilities in cutting-edge technology and promoting ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defence.

5. India is set to carry out trials for US-made Stryker combat vehicles in Ladakh and deserts. The trials are part of India’s plan to reequip its forces with Strykers, which will be customized and technologically configured for Indian terrain, including high-altitude areas like eastern Ladakh and Sikkim.

6. AVNL to license-produce Russian Typhoon-K MRAP vehicles for indian Army: India’s Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited (ANVL) is set to license produce the Russian K-53949 Typhoon-K, a 4×4 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle developed by Remdiesel, a subsidiary of KamAZ.

The Typhoon-K is a family of armoured vehicles developed under the Typhoon MRAP program, which is part of the Russian Federation Armed Forces’ plan to produce military vehicles.

7. Adani Defence & Aerospace and Thales Group have joined forces to manufacture 70mm rockets in India, contributing to the country’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing. Thales is a global leader in the production of these rockets, which are used against soft and light armoured vehicles, air defence facilities, radar sites, and communication installations with laser-guided precision.

8. Indian and Mongolian troops performed Yoga in the picturesque background of Meghalaya.Both sides are participating in Exercise Nomadic Elephant at the State-of-the-Art Training Node in Umroi, Meghalaya.The 16th edition of India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise Nomadic Elephant commenced on July 3 and is scheduled to be conducted until 16 July.

9. President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred 36 Gallantry Awards to the personnel of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and State and Union Territory Police. The awards were conferred during the Defence Investiture Ceremony (Phase-1) at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi this evening.

The Gallantry Awards include ten Kirti Chakras and 26 Shaurya Chakras. Out of these, seven personnel were awarded Kirti Chakras posthumously and seven Shaurya Chakras posthumously. The President conferred Kirti Chakra upon Captain Anshuman Singh posthumously.
