1. The India Meteorological Department said that the deadly cyclonic storm Michaung had weakened into a deep depression over the central coastal of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

5. The Congress party announced on Tuesday (Dec 5) that Anumula Revanth Reddy will be the new chief minister of Telangana, to take oath on December 7.

6. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has ordered dissolution of the existing Legislative Assembly of Telangana on Monday under Article 174 (2) (b) of the Constitution with effect from the afternoon of Sunday.

7. Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy wrote a letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking help for Cyclone relief measures.

8. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the Delhi government to consider increasing the threshold income for availing reservation under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota in private schools from ₹1 lakh per annum to ₹5 lakhs an amount commensurate to existing living standards.

9. Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Bishweswar Tudu, informed the Rajya Sabha that arsenic has been detected in groundwater in parts of 230 districts across 25 states, and fluoride in 469 districts across 27 states in India.

10. The Indian Government has given the green light for the submission of the country’s Third National Communication (TNC) and Initial Adaptation Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

1. The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the proceedings on FIRs lodged against Journalist Makepeace Sitlhou for tweets she made in relation with Manipur violence.

2. Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead on Tuesday (Dec 5) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Notably, Gogamedi had recently received threats from Sampat Nehra of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

3. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted raids at eight locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror funding case.

4. The Delhi High Court will now hear a defamation case filed by TMC MP Mahua Moitra on December 11. The case was filed as the politician battled allegations that she had received cash and other gifts for posing questions to the Lok Sabha.

5. The supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders was affected in the Northeast after an association of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) LPG cylinder transporters went on a flash strike for an indefinite period on Tuesday.

6. Speaker Om Birla on December 5 cautioned MPs against bringing placards in the Lok Sabha and said dignity and discipline need to be maintained in the House.

The comments by the Speaker came a day after BSP member Danish Ali hung a placard around his neck in protest demanding action against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri for making derogatory remarks against him.

1. The Government said claims of over 1 lakh 50 thousand crore rupees have been paid to insured farmers under Pradhan Manti Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) till Rabi 2022-23 season since the inception of the scheme in 2016-17. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar informed.

2. The Indian government has initiated a crackdown on Chinese-operated financial fraud by urging the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to block over 100 Chinese websites.

3. The Bank of Baroda has announced the introduction of the BOB Parivar Account for Savings and Current Accounts. The ‘My Family, My Bank’ segment, which has been launched as a part of the Bank’s “BOB Ke Sang Tyohaar Ki Umang” festive campaign. Ravindra Singh Negi, Chief General Manager – Retail Liabilities & NRI Business, Bank of Baroda said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in a case in which over 41,000 UCO Bank customers received surprise credits of varied amounts in their accounts, totalling ₹820 crore, during November 10-13 without any corresponding debits in accounts from where the transfers originated, officials said on Tuesday.

5. Employees working in public sector banks are going to get great news in the coming days. The central government can take a decision on declaring holiday in banks on all Saturdays. The Indian Bank Association, the management body of the country’s public sector banks, has already submitted a proposal to the government to declare all Saturdays as holidays in banks.

6. S&P Global Ratings on Tuesday said India will be the world’s third-largest economy by 2030.

7. The RBI revoked the license of Kolhapur’s Shankarrao Pujari Nutan Nagari Sahakari Bank, encompassing deposit acceptance and repayment under Banking Regulation Act, 1949 Sections 5(b) and 56.

8. Indian economy grew 7.2 % in 2022-23 fiscal ended March 2023. India’s GDP expanded 7.8 per cent and 7.6 per cent in the June and September quarters, respectively.

9. Bharti Airtel, one of India’s leading telecommunications companies, achieved a significant milestone by becoming the 8th company to surpass Rs.6 lakh crore on December 4.

1. The trailer of the highly anticipated film Dunki was unveiled on Tuesday and it promises to be a fun ride. Termed as Dunki Drop 4, the trailer gives a glimpse inside the world that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has weaved which is set in 1995.

Dunki Drop 4 begins with Shah Rukh Khan who introduces himself as Hardy and states that the story that he is narrating is from 1995 set in a village called Laltu.

2. The opening ceremony of the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) was held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. The event saw West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, Sourav Ganguly and Mahesh Bhatt, among others, in attendance.

Running until December 12, Kolkata International Film Festival 2023 will showcase 219 films from 39 countries across 23 venues in Kolkata. Among them, 72 are feature films, and 50 are short films and documentaries. In the International Competition (Innovation in Moving Images) category, thirteen films will vie for Golden Royal Bengal Trophies in the Best Film and Best Director categories, with prize money of Rs 51 lakh and Rs 21 lakh, respectively.

3. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal rescued from Chennai floods, photos go viral. Aamir was reportedly stranded along with Vishnu at the latter’s residence at Chennai’s Karpakkam area. The area had no water or electricity for 24 hours.

Aamir Khan relocated to Chennai a few months back to be with his mother who is undergoing treatment in the city.

5. Vice Admiral Puneet K. Bahl, Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, inaugurated the 12th edition of the Admiral’s Cup Sailing Regatta 2023 at Ettikulam beach in Kannur on December 4.

6. Captain Geetika Koul of the Snow Leopard Brigade has created history by becoming the first woman medical officer of the Indian Army to be deployed at Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield. She successfully completed rigorous induction training at the prestigious Siachen Battle School.

7. The Indian Army has for the first time deployed the rare double humped camels to carry critical load to the forward positions and mounted patrolling in the sandy terrain of the Eastern Ladakh where Indian and Chinese troops have engaged in an intense standoff since June 2020.
