1. 💐🌺 HAPPY ONAM
Keralites across globe are celebrating Thiru Onam today. Thiru Onam is the biggest festival in Kerala, and the entire state is in a festive mood for the last couple of days. Onam, celebrated by Keralites as the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali.

2. Teachers’ Day is being celebrated throughout the country today. The day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of educationist and former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Awards to Teachers at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, today.

3. Muslims worldwide are preparing to observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi 🌙in 2025, a significant occasion that commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad. Also known as Mawlid, this festival holds special spiritual importance, especially among Sufi and Barelvi communities.

4. PM Modi has described the rationalisation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the biggest reform since Independence.

5. Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal launched the Unified Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) portal at the 5th meeting of the Central Advisory Council in New Delhi.

6. The Prime Minister was interacted with award-winning teachers in New Delhi. He said the two tax slabs will come into effect from September 22 — the first day of Navratri.

7. Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the GST reforms will act like a booster dose in promoting indigenous products in the country.

8. The Maharashtra government said the public holiday on account of Eid-e-Milad in Mumbai city and suburban district will be observed on 8th September, instead of 5th September.

The decision was taken after the Muslim community resolved to hold the Eid-e-Milad procession on 8th September to ensure harmony as Anant Chaturdashi falls on 6th September, when Ganesh idols will be immersed after public processions.

9. The revered 16th-century Vrindavani Vastra, a priceless silk textile from Assam, is set to be exhibited in the state in 2027. The British Museum in London has agreed to loan the textile for 18 months. This marks a cultural moment as Assam prepares to showcase this historic artifact for the first time on Indian soil.

10. UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar has announced the plan to establish a Centre of Excellence as a repository of best practices from UPSC and State Public Service Commissions.

11. Meghalaya’s Department of Tourism has launched its Autumn Calendar 2025, featuring a vibrant lineup of world-class festivals, global artists, and daily music across the state.

12. The NIRF Rankings 2025, released by the Ministry of Education, crowned IIT-Madras as India’s top institution for the 7th year in a row, followed by IISc Bengaluru and IIT-Mumbai.
The 10th edition recognized excellence across 17 categories including engineering, management, law, medicine, research, and sustainable development.

13. The new terminal building of Donyi Polo Airport at Arunachal Pradesh’s Hollongi was inaugurated by union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and chief minister Pema Khandu on Thursday.

14. Telangana government has issued orders declaring Saturday (September 6) a general holiday for government offices and State-run schools and colleges located in and around twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts on account of the procession of Ganesh idols for immersion.

15. A two-day summit on the National Ayush Mission and Capacity Building concluded in New Delhi. The summit was organised by the Ministry of Ayush.

16. Indian Meteorological Department IMD forecasts continuous heavy rainfall over the districts of north Bengal in the next 6-7 days. The Eastern Zonal Head Dr Habibur Rahman Biswas of the Alipore Weather Office of the IMD, informed Akashvani that due to the active Monsoon trough many places of West Bengal may receive rainfall. Districts of South Bengal are likely to experience light to moderate scattered rainfall with thundershower.

1. The Delhi High Court has launched its Mobile App, the e-HRMS Portal for Judicial Officers, the e-Office Pilot Project, the onboarding of the MCD Appellate Tribunal and Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) onto the e-Courts platform, as well as the Digital Preservation of Judicial Records. These projects aim to digitally and technologically strengthen the judiciary.

2. Five Bharatiya Janata Party BJP MLAs have been suspended from the Legislative Assembly in Kolkata over the issue of alleged atrocities on Bengali-speaking migrant labourers in other states.

3. The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved amendments to labour laws allowing an increase in daily working hours for private sector employees from 9 to 10 hours, and up to 12 hours in industries, aiming to attract investment, generate employment, and ensure workers’ rights.
The amendments will be made to the Factories Act, 1948 and the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act, 2017, aligning the state with labour reforms in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Tripura.

4. The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended 26 new appointments to the Allahabad High Court, comprising 14 judicial officers and 12 advocates, including senior women lawyers Garima Parshad and Swarupama Chaturvedi.

5. A court has directed the police to conduct an inquiry into a defamation complaint filed by IRS officer Sameer Wankhede against former model Namrata Shroff over her social media posts. The Andheri magistrate court on Tuesday asked Amboli police to probe the matter and submit a report by November 30, 2025.

1. GST Reforms 2025
The Government of India is rolling out a new set of Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms in 2025, aimed at simplifying compliance, widening the tax base, and making the indirect tax system more business-friendly.

GST simplified to a two-slab structure (5% & 18%)
* GST reforms cut taxes on household essentials (soaps, toothpaste, Indian breads) to
5% or Nil boosting affordability
* Life-saving drugs, medicines reduced from 12% to Nil or 5% making healthcare
affordable
* Two-wheelers, small cars, TVs, ACs, cement cut from 28% to 18% bringing relief to
middle-class.
* Farm machinery, irrigation equipment cut from 12% to 5%, reducing farming costs
* Tobacco, pan masala, aerated drinks, and luxury goods taxed at 40%.

2. Tata to Build Rafale Fuselages in Hyderabad from 2028: Tata Advanced Systems Limited will begin production of complete Rafale fighter jet fuselages in Hyderabad from 2028 at a planned rate of two fuselages per month to serve both Indian and global requirements.

3. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) launched BHARATI in 2025. This initiative aims to empower 100 agri-food and agri-tech startups. It supports innovation and creates new export opportunities. BHARATI aligns with India’s goal to reach $50 billion in agri-food exports by 2030.

1. Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavtar Narsimha has scripted history by grossing Rs 183.79 crore in its 38-day run at the Hindi box office, thereby surpassing Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 (Rs 183.38 crore) to emerge as the third biggest Hindi hit of the year so far.

2. Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files’ does an advance booking of nearly Rs 20 lakhs ; 2 days before the release. Film is scheduled to release on 5th September.

2. This Onam, Malayalam Actor Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah locked horns at the box office. Lokah received extraordinary reviews and word of mouth. Hridayapoorvam also received positive reports, but Lokah took a massive lead and emerged as the South Indian highest-grossing female-led film.

Air-Launched LRLACM: India’s Su-30 to Get 1500 km Strike Power: India is modifying its Su-30 fighter jets to test the new air-launched long-range land attack cruise missile, which will be operational by 2027. Each Su-30 can carry two missiles that can strike targets up to 1,500 km away, featuring advanced seekers and satellite control for mid-flight adjustments and pinpoint precision.

2. India is in talks with Russia for acquiring two additional S-400 squadrons with deliveries scheduled for 2029 and 2030.

3. ‘Sagar Kavach-2’ Coastal Security Exercise Kicks Off – Bay of Bengal: India has started a two-day joint coastal security exercise that simulates seaborne terror threats with a red team attempting to breach defenses, blend into populated areas and plant dummy explosives at sensitive sites.

4. Indian Navy warship INS Trikand has reached Alexandria in Egypt to take part in the multinational military exercise Bright Star.

5. The Indian Navy has deployed cooperative engagement capability on 10 frontline warships that will enable ships and aircraft to share radar data in real time, allowing one warship to detect a threat while another warship shoots it down.

6. Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia AVSM VSM assumed the prestigious role of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) at the Indian Air Force Headquarters.
