1. TEACHER’S DAY 2024 in India will be celebrated on September 5th. This special day honors teachers for their invaluable contributions to society. The date marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great teacher and the second President of India.
Amrit Udyan will be exclusively open for all teachers today on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Entry is from Gate No. 35 of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Amrit Udyan Summer Annuals Edition 2024 is open to the public from the 16th of last month to the 15th of this month, from 10 AM to 6 PM, except on Mondays. Entry is free of charge.
2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated and dedicated to the nation, the Vishwashanti Buddha Vihara at Udgir in Latur district of Maharashtra . The President also installed a statue of Gautama Buddha inside the vihara and paid tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar by offering flowers at his statue.
President Smt Droupadi Murmu said that the ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojna’ are important steps toward building an inclusive and prosperous society and the country.

5. Rajya Sabha Chairman Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar administered oath to newly elected members of Rajya Sabha at the Parliament House. The Members are BJP’s Dhairyashil Mohan Patil elected from Maharashtra, Kiran Choudhry from Haryana, Rameswar Teli from Assam, George Kurian from Madhya Pradesh. Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi of Indian National Congress, representing Telangana also took oath yesterday.
6. Union Minister for Heavy Industries, H D Kumaraswamy has said that the government is working towards making India a global hub for Electric Vehicles (EVs) and committed to advancing the country’s EV Ecosystem. Addressing a National Conference on Electric Mobility in New Delhi. He said that the government’s focus is to accelerate EV adoption in the country and achieve carbon emission net zero target by 2070.
7. The pensioners of the Employees’ Pension Scheme will now be able to receive their pension from any bank across the country starting from 1st Jan 2025. This will benefit more than 78 lakh pensioners of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said the approval of the Centralized Pension Payment System marks a significant milestone.
8. In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the flood relief operations with state ministers and district collectors of flood affected districts. He directed the officials to take up sanitation measures to clear mud and debris from flood impacted houses.
9. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed the crop loss caused by recent excessive rains in the Udgir region of Latur district, as rainfall abates in the Marathwada region.
10. The Centre has extended the ceasefire agreement with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki for a period of one year. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that the Centre and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki have mutually decided to extend the ceasefire agreement, effective from 8th September 2024, for one year to promote lasting peace in the state.
11. Arunachal fashion designer Gona Niji is set to showcase the rich loom and handicraft heritage of Arunachal at the 19th edition of the Celebrating Northeast India Festival in Istanbul, Türkey. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and several other political leaders of the state have extended their best wishes to Niji for the event.
12. The Uttar Pradesh government will construct a Vedic-3D museum at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi. Announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the museum will focus on Indian astrology, astronomy, and Vedic literature.
13. The President Smt. Droupadi Murmu has approved the formation of the 23rd Law Commission of India for a three-year term, effective from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2027. This commission will consist of a full-time chairperson, four members, and additional ex-officio and part-time members.
14. The Madhya Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved a groundbreaking scheme named ‘Brindavan Gram’. This initiative, formally announced on Janmashtami (August 26), aims to transform selected gram panchayats into model villages, focusing on cow protection and rural development.

No pension for MLAs who defect: Himachal passes new bill : The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (Allowances and Pension of Members (Amendment) Bill, 2024 will affect six former Congress MLAs, who were disqualified by the Speaker for defying the whip and abstaining from the House during discussion on cut motions and passing of Budget in February.

1. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Thursday Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s petitions challenging the legality of his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and for bail in the Delhi excise policy case.
2. Former bureaucrats, activists and senior academics moved the Supreme Court seeking to “cancel any existing licences/permissions and halt the grant of new licences/permissions, to various companies in India, for exports of arms and other military equipment to Israel”.
The writ petition under Article 32 is filed through advocate Prashant Bhushan. It is submitted in the petition that the ongoing export of arms and other military equipment to Israel during Israel’s siege in Gaza violates Articles 14 and 21 read with Article 51(c) of the Indian Constitution.

Kolkata experienced a unique and powerful display of civic solidarity on Wednesday evening when residents turned off their lights for an hour from 9pm to 10 pm and came down to the streets with burning candles to protest the murder of the doctor at RG Kar hospital and to express support for the deceased doctor’s family.

1. In Nagaland, six people lost their lives and three were injured after a series of massive mudslides and landslides hit National Highway-29 between Kohima and Dimapur following heavy rainfall last night. The deceased include five males and one female.
2. In Andhrapradesh, the death toll in the last four days’ rain and floods has risen to 32 in the three worst-hit districts, namely the NTR, Guntur and Palnadu, by Wednesday.
A low-pressure area is set to develop near the Bay of Bengal before evening on Thursday, signifying heavy rainfall across the north coastal and south coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. The weather office issued an Orange alert for the districts of Eluru, Palanadu and NTR.

1. The 610th meeting of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India was held in Mumbai. The Board reviewed the global and domestic economic scenarios and outlooks.
2. The government has planned to promote both Indian alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages globally, with a target of one billion dollars in export revenue over the next few years. The Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority has been working to increase exports of Indian spirits to major foreign destinations. India currently ranks 40th in the world for alcoholic beverage exports.
3. The Global Textiles Expo—Bharat Tex 2025 will be held from February 14th to 17th next year at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital and at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida.

1. The Madras High Court ordered notices to popular film director Atlee, production firm AGS Entertainment Private Limited, and its executive director Archana Kalpathi in a case pertaining to an alleged theft of script for actor Vijay-starrer ‘Bigil.’
2. Reigning stars Prabhas and Allu Arjun have made substantial contributions to the flood relief efforts in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Prabhas has committed a sum of Rs 2 crore, allocating equal portions of Rs 1 crore to each state. This donation aims to aid the ongoing relief operations and support those affected by the recent floods.
3. The Bombay High Court on Wednesday refused to direct the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to immediately issue a certificate to the Kangana Ranaut-directed film ‘Emergency’ and asked the body to decide on any objections or representations by 18 September.
‘Emergency’, which is based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is written, directed and produced by Ranaut. The film was slated to hit the screens on September 6 but has been postponed after Sikh organisations raised concerns over the portrayal of Sikhs and the accuracy of historical facts.

1. The Indian Navy and the South African Navy signed an Implementing Agreement to enhance their submarine rescue support cooperation. The Defence Ministry said that under the agreement, the Indian Navy will provide assistance by deploying its Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle when required.
2. For the first time, an Indian Navy P8i Poseidon aircraft has landed at Air Base 125 Istres-Le Tube in France. This is a significant event, happening as part of India’s participation in the bilateral naval exercise ‘Varuna,’ which is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 4 September 2024, in the Mediterranean Sea.
3. The Armed Forces Festival, organized by Surya Command at Lucknow Cantonment, commenced with great enthusiasm on 3 September 2024, at Surya Khel Parisar. The three-day event, running from September 3 to 5, 2024, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.
4. The Indian Army and the Department of Defence Production are deliberating on the issue of equipment being inducted into the Army that do not contain Chinese electronic parts and a methodology is being worked out so that this does not take place in future.
5. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to enhance its fleet of Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets with a significant upgrade involving the AL-31FP engines. This upgrade includes the integration of a Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system, which replaces the older analogue hydro-mechanical system, thereby improving engine performance and reliability.
6. India’s top military commanders on Wednesday held extensive deliberations in Lucknow on the government’s ambitious plans to create ‘Integrated Theatre Commands’ and reviewed overall national security challenges including along the frontiers with China and Pakistan.
