1. Campaigning for Haryana Assembly Elections ends; Single phase polling for ninety constituencies to be held on Saturday.

2. The Election Commission has said that an overall 63.88 percent voter turnout was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections in all three phases. The male voter turnout was 64.68 percent, while female turnout was 63.04 percent.

3. Union Cabinet Approves National Mission on Edible Oils to make the country self reliant in oilseeds’ production.

4. Centre approves PM Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and Krishonnati Yojana with an outlay of over one lakh crore rupees to Boost Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.

5. The government has established 13 thousand 822 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) till 30th September of this year.

6. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched digital family health cards on pilot basis in the state. The Chief Minister said these cards will provide benefits for health and ration for the eligible people in a family. The pilot project will be conducted till the 8th of this month across the state in selected blocks in each Assembly constituency.

7. In Bihar, water level of several overflowing rivers has started receding but, in many areas, they are still at above danger level. Around 15 lakh people in 17 districts have been affected by the flood due to rise of water level of Gandak, Kosi, Mahananda, Bagmati and other rivers.

8. Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Jayant Chaudhary virtually inaugurated the six centres of Sant Gadge Baba Swachh Bharat Prabodhini. These centres are based in Goregaon, Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Amravati and Nagpur.

9. The Regional Meteorological Center RMC Alipore Kolkata of IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall over all the districts of north Bengal till Saturday. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in some places of the Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts.

10. Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the Students’ Activity Centre, laid the foundation stone of the Buddhist Study Centre and participated in an interaction session with faculty and students at Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh.

In Jammu and Kashmir, amid multi-tier security arrangements, the nine-day-long festival of Navratri began with religious fervour, as over 45 thousand pilgrims undertake the pilgrimage daily to pay obeisance at the cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in the Trikuta hills in Reasi district of Jammu division.

12. Political strategist turned politician Prashant Kishore officially launched the Jan Suraj Party, the political wing of his Jan Suraj organisation, at a large gathering in Patna. Mr Kishore announced that the Jan Suraj Party will contest all 243 seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

13. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced that the road in front of the Jamaica High Commission in New Delhi has been officially named ‘Jamaica Marg’.

14. In a groundbreaking initiative to further strengthen the ecosystem for women entrepreneurs in Telangana, NITI Aayog, in collaboration with Telangana government, launched the first State chapter of Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), with WE Hub serving as the nodal organization.

15. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former MP Ashok Tanwar joined the Congress at Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Mahendragarh district in Haryana on Thursday, a setback for the ruling party just two days before the state goes to polls.

16. In Telangana, Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy has met the families being relocated as part of the Musi River Beautification Project. Speaking after meeting the families from various colonies in Amberpet Assembly constituency and extending support, he said the Central Government will extend assistance to construct the houses but not demolish them.

1. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin in a money laundering case linked to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The former president of the HCA, Mohammad Azharuddin, is accused of misappropriating funds during his tenure.

2. The Supreme Court Declares Caste-Based Prison Manuals Unconstitutional and Discriminatory; Directs states to revise jail manuals within three months.

3. CBI arrested Trinamool Chhatra Parishad TMCP leader doctor Ashish Pandey, a close aide of former principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghose close aide, in connection with the financial irregularities at the institution. He was summoned to be present at the CBI Headquarters at CGO Complex for interrogation.

4. The two trustees of the Badlapur school, where two minor girls were sexually abused in August leading to outrage, were produced before a local court in Thane.

5. In West Bengal, thousands of junior doctors, joined by people from all walks of life, took out a mega protest march on the occasion of Mahalaya in Kolkata on Wednesday, demanding justice for rape and murder victim of state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

6. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asserted that the Government will continue with its efforts to remove encroachments from Musi riverbed as well as the buffer zones and water bodies where there are rampant encroachments.

7. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on BRS and BJP leaders for their opposition to the constitution of HYDRAA and Musi riverfront development projects. He specifically accused BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao of orchestrating “artificial protests” using hired supporters to hinder these projects, with the motive of protecting their illegal farmhouses built on full tank kevel (FTL) land and buffer zones of lakes.

10. Former BJP leader and actor Rupa Ganguly has been released on bail by the Alipur Court in Kolkata. Roopa was taken into custody and brought to the Kolkata Police Headquarters at Lalbazar after leading a protest at the Bansdroni Police Station on the night of 2 October.

The former BJP MP was advocating for the release of fellow party member Rubi Das, detained in connection with a road accident. Ganguly’s arrest was due to obstructing police duties. This protest was ignited by the tragic death of a 15-year-old boy who was hit by an excavator while standing with his bicycle, leading to widespread anger among locals and resulting in overnight demonstrations and vandalism of the involved excavator.

1. The Government to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities to youth during current Financial Year under PM’s Internship Scheme.

2. The RBI revealed that 98% of ₹2,000 notes have been returned since their withdrawal in May 2023, reducing the total value in circulation from ₹3.56 lakh crore to ₹7,117 crore. While the notes are no longer printed, they remain legal tender and can still be exchanged or deposited at RBI offices.

1. International Film Festival and Forum on Environment and Wildlife, Vatavaran Was inaugurated at Paryavaran Bhawan in New Delhi. The theme for the three-day film festival is “Wetlands for Life”, focusing on the awareness and conservation of the wetlands eco-system.

2. Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty recently shared his feelings about becoming a Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee. He expressed his surprise at being honored with India’s highest recognition in cinema, which will be presented on October 8 at the 70th National Film Award ceremony.

3. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan trailer was released on October 2, despite concerns over the superstar’s recent hospitalisation. Directed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions, the action-packed film features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati.

‘Vettaiyan’ featuring Rajinikanth is going to be the next big release in Tamil, and the film is locked and loaded to release on October 10. ‘Vettaiyan’ is releasing in Tami, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages, and the film is positioned to peak well at the box office.

4. Telangana congress minister Konda Surekha withdraws her comments on the divorce of actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. Her remarks that triggered strong reactions from political leaders and the Telugu cinema industry with superstar Nagarjuna suing her for defamation.

Surekha on Wednesday stirred up a major controversy by alleging that Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao was the reason behind Prabhu and Chaitanya’s divorce in 2021.

1. The Military Nursing Service (MNS) marked its 99th Raising Day on 1 Oct 2024 with solemnity and pride. Maj Gen Ignatius Delos Flora, Additional Director General of Military Nursing Services laid a wreath at the National War Memorial, in the presence of senior MNS officers and veterans.

The Military Nursing Service, established in 1926, has grown into a robust and indispensable part of the Indian Armed Forces. Nursing Officers are posted to India’s Most premier Military Hospitals across India.

2. Bangalore is gearing up to host the biennial air show, Aero India 2025, from February 10 to 14 next year at the Indian Air Force (IAF) Yelahanka airbase.

3. Air Marshal SP Dharkar, an accomplished fighter pilot with 3,600 hours of flying experience, on Thursday assumed charge as Vice Chief of the Air Staff. He succeeds Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh who became the Chief of Air Staff on September 30.

4. For First Time, Sweepers, Peons In Paramilitary Force CRPF Get Promotion. A ‘rank piping’ ceremony was held at various offices of the force including for a dozen personnel at the headquarters in Delhi.

The move came about after the Union government earlier this year had given a green signal to promote 2,600 personnel working in the ministerial cadre. The 217 personnel have been promoted from the rank of constable to the next higher rank of head constable.

5. The Ministry of Finance has cleared a long-pending demand of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) through the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to set up a separate veterinary unit within the force to take care of its over 1,000 dedicated canine force.

6. Speaking at a press conference, General Officer Commanding of the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, who is relinquishing the command of one of the most elite formations of the Army, said Kashmir has had a “good year” and sustaining this peace is the biggest challenge for the security forces.

Lt Gen Ghai has been appointed as the next director general of Military Operations.
