1. The Rajya Sabha gave its nod to the Oilfield (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill 2024. The Bill amends the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Act, 1948. It expands the definition of Mineral oils, which include naturally occurring hydrocarbon, coal bed methane, and shale gas. It clarifies that mineral oils will not include coal, lignite or helium.

2. The government launched sixteen initiatives to empower Divyangjans across the nation. The initiatives have been launched by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 in New Delhi.

3. The Rajya Sabha yesterday took up the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak 2024 for discussion. The Lok Sabha has already passed the Bill in the Monsoon session this year.

4. President Smt Droupadi Murmu arrived at Bhubaneswar yesterday evening on a five-day visit to her home state Odisha to attend several official programmes including Indian Navy Day today at the Blue Flag Beach in Puri.

5. Maharashtra, BJP officials held a meeting in Mumbai today ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Mahayuti government. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on 5th of December at 5 PM at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan.

6. Gujarat’s Gharchola has recently been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which was conferred by the Union government, and took place during the event “GI and Beyond, Virasat Se Vikas Tak” in New Delhi.

7. The India International Science Festival (IISF) 2024 took place from 30 November to 3 December 2024, at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. This year, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) leads the event, which is supported by the National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST).

8. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi along with the five other Congress MPs from Uttar Pradesh will visit violence-hit Sambhal on Wednesday.

9. The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO will launch the PSLV-C59/Proba 3 mission today at 4.08 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. PSLV C59 will launch Proba 3 satellites of the European Space Agency into the highly elliptical orbit.

10. India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema.

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the successful implementation of the New Criminal Laws to the nation in Chandigarh.

The three transformative new criminal laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam in Chandigarh. They also witnessed the live demonstration of crime scene investigation under the new criminal laws.

2. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has rejected media reports regarding the Group of Ministers (GoM) recommendations on GST rate changes on various goods and services saying that such reports are premature and speculative. The CBIC said that the GST council has not received any recommendations from the Group of Ministers and no GST rate changes have been deliberated.

3. Lok Sabha Secretariat has requested the Members of Parliament not to hold protests or demonstrations in front of the Gates of Parliament House. It added that such actions cause serious hindrance to the movement of members to the Parliament Chambers during sittings of the Houses.

4. In Jammu & Kashmir, a most wanted terrorist commander Junaid Ahmed Bhat was killed in an encounter in Dachigam forests in the Srinagar outskirts yesterday.

He was involved in the killing of six workers and a doctor at a housing camp of a private company in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal.

5. Mumbai police on Tuesday told a special court that the name of Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has emerged as the main conspirator in the October 12 killing of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique.

6. Police registered a case against more than 200 persons from Markadwadi village and nearby areas in Maharashtra’s Solapur for allegedly trying to conduct a ‘re-election’ using ballot papers on Tuesday in an unauthorised manner.

7. A forensic team investigating the Sambhal violence site on Tuesday recovered six empty cartridges which were made in Pakistan, police said.

There has been a tense situation in Sambhal since the first survey of Shahi Jama Masjid was conducted on November 19 on the court orders following a petition which claimed once a Harihar temple stood at the site. Violence broke out on November 24 when the mosque was being surveyed again.

The Lok Sabha has passed the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The Bill seeks to amend the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, the State Bank of India Act, 1955, the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970 and the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1980. The Bill also seeks to increase the option for nominees per bank account to four, from the existing one.

Rishab Shetty to play Shivaji Maharaj in director Sandeep Singh’s magnum opus action drama The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj : National Award-winning actor and popular filmmaker Rishab Shetty and director Sandeep Singh, on Tuesday, announced a massive collaboration for one of the biggest stories in Indian history, the respected Shivaji Maharaj. The brave tale of this renowned warrior and leader will be recreated on the big screen titled, The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

2. On 12 December 2024, Rajinikanth’s birthday, the makers of “Coolie” plan to surprise the fans with a video release.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj with music by Anirudh and produced by Sun Pictures, “Coolie” is progressing its shooting. The film also features Nagarjuna Akkineni and Shruti Haasan in the prominent roles.

1. The Indian Navy is set to enhance its underwater capabilities significantly with the introduction of indigenously designed nuclear attack submarines (SSNs) by 2036. Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, the Navy Chief, announced this development during a press briefing ahead of Navy Day.

2. The Defence Acquisition Council has approved five capital acquisition proposals amounting to over 21 thousand 772 crore rupees. The council under the Chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi granted Acceptance of Necessity for the procurement of 31 New Water Jet Fast Attack Crafts for the Indian Navy.

3. Recently India has successfully tested the K-4 nuclear-capable ballistic missile from its newly commissioned submarine, INS Arighaat. This test, conducted on 27 November 2024, in the Bay of Bengal, marks a significant advancement in India’s strategic military capabilities.
