1. The Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing, modernising and expanding the railway network and ensuring safety and cleanliness in railways. The Minister was speaking after flagging off the Bhavnagar-Ayodhya Cantt weekly train from Bhavnagar railway station in Gujarat.

2. In Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has been suspended from onwards from both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes due to the recent heavy rains, critical repair and maintenance works.

3. The Deendayal Port Authority at Kandla in Gujarat has commissioned India’s 1st Make-in-India Green Hydrogen Plant in the port sector.

4. In Uttar Pradesh, continuous rainfall has caused several rivers to rise above the danger mark, prompting people to migrate to safer locations.

5. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is aiming for a 2027 launch for its first LVM3 launch vehicle equipped with a semi-cryogenic propulsion stage. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan said.

*Formerly known as the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mk III (GSLV Mk III), the three-stage LVM3 had its first experimental flight in December, 2014. It is ISRO’s most powerful rocket to date. The semi-cryogenic stage is designed to make it even more formidable, enhancing payload capability while keeping costs down.

6. The Indian space sector is aiming to achieve an 8 to 10 per cent share in the global commercial space market over the next 10 years, and for that, a lot of work needs to be done, ISRO Chairman Dr V Narayanan said.

7. Ahead of the Delhi Assembly Monsoon Session beginning from today, the Delhi Assembly has become paperless. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) and 500-kilowatt rooftop solar power plant in the Delhi Assembly premises.

8. The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), popularly known as the Pusa Institute, has discontinued its undergraduate course, which was launched two years ago under an academic hub model at various ICAR research institutions. However, 120 seats will be retained at IARI’s Assam and Jharkhand centers.

9. The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), along with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and others, has launched personalised and real-time climate advisory services, powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The project, AI-powered Context-Specific Agromet Advisory Services for Climate-Resilient Agriculture at Scale, was launched at a workshop held at ICRISAT in Hyderabad.

10. The Government of Odisha has issued multiple notifications, effecting a major transfer and promotion of senior officers in the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) cadre.

11. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in consultation with the Ministry of Ayush, has released a definitive list of Ayurvedic food preparations under the category of “Ayurveda Aahara.” This initiative aims to assist Food Business Operators (FBOs) by providing a clear and credible reference for the manufacture of Ayurveda Aahara products.

12. PM Modi will visit Bengaluru on August 10 to inaugurate the long-awaited Yellow Line Metro and lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase 3.

13. Indian Postal Department has announced the discontinuation of its iconic Registered Post service, marking the end of a 50-year era. From 1 September 2025, the service will be phased out as part of a strategic integration with Speed Post, aimed at modernising operations.

14. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rainfall over Northeast and East India during the next seven days.

1. The Election Commission has asked RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav to furnish details about the Voter ID displayed by him at a press conference amid allegation of possessing two electors’ photo identity cards (EPICs). The Electoral Registration Officer of the Digha Assembly constituency in Bihar stated that the voter ID card shown by Mr Yadav at the press meet yesterday was not issued by the Election Commission.

2. In Manipur, the drive against the Single Use Plastic (SUP) product has been intensified, and around 4,464 kilograms of plastic carry bags have been seized from various markets in Imphal have been seized since 19th April this year.

3. Controversial remarks by Congress and NCP (SP) leaders in Maharashtra, suggesting terms like “Sanatani terrorist” and drawing parallels between Godse and Pahalgam attackers, have ignited a political firestorm.

Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan’s remarks suggesting the use of the term “Sanatani or Hindu terrorist” instead of “saffron terrorism” and NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad’s “sanatani terrorism” barb have triggered a row in Maharashtra, evoking sharp rebuke from the BJP.

1. In Andhra Pradesh, six migrant workers from Odisha were killed and three others injured in a tragic accident at a granite quarry in Bapatla district. The incident occurred when a massive granite rock fell on the workers while they were engaged in mining works.

2. In Uttar Pradesh, at least 11 people lost their lives and four others were injured in a road accident in Gonda yesterday morning. The mishap occurred when a Bolero carrying 15 devotees on their way to the Prithvinath temple fell into a canal near the Saryu Canal Bridge in Rehra village.

1. Rajasthan Aushdhalaya Pvt. Ltd. (RAPL Group), a pioneer in the Ayurvedic nutraceutical sector, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing a net worth of ₹2000 crore.

2. The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi has approved a Central Sector Scheme to provide Rs. 2000 crore as grant-in-aid to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). This scheme will run from 2025-26 to 2028-29 with Rs. 500 crore allocated each year. The grant will enable NCDC to raise Rs. 20,000 crore from the open market, which will be used to extend loans to cooperatives across India.

3. Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari expressed confidence that India’s cost of logistics would come down to less than 10% by the end of December.

4. NIBE Limited, a Pune-based private defence manufacturing company, has secured a ₹6 crore order from Israel’s Elbit Systems for the supply of components used in the Guided Advanced Tactical Rocket (GATR) 70mm Guided Rocket, a precision strike weapon with a range of 10km.

1. Coolie is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.

The film stars Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Aamir Khan. Coolie is scheduled to release worldwide on 14 August 2025 in standard, D-Box and 4DX formats.

2. Actor Hrithik Roshan’s danced to ‘War 2’ song ‘Aavan Jaavan’ at an event in Sri Lanka and the video is now going viral. The much-anticipated film ‘War 2’ will release on August 14.

3. The animated feature Mahavatar Narsimha continues to roar at the box office, with its storm showing no signs of slowing down, especially in the Telugu states. Directed by Ashwin Kumar and distributed in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by Geetha Arts, the film has received a strong response from audiences across regions.

Bangalore-based SSS Defence has become the first Indian company to supply indigenous suppressors for the Sako TRG sniper rifles to the Indian Army, marking a significant milestone in India’s pursuit of self-reliance in advanced defence technologies.The Sako TRG is a high-precision bolt-action sniper rifle, originally designed and manufactured by the Finnish firm SAKO.
