1. India celebrates National Unity Day on October 31 to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, who united the nation after Independence. To honor his immense contribution, the Government of India declared October 31 as National Unity Day in 2014.

2. The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2025 is extra special as it marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man. The celebrations at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, include a grand parade, cultural performances, and air shows showcasing India’s unity and diversity. It’s a proud tribute to Patel’s legacy of national integration and strength.

3. After starting the twin Vande Bharat trains on Srinagar-Katra route, marking the completion of Udhampur-Srinagar -Baramulla rail link in June, the northern railways is now eyeing to provide direct connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of country.

4. NITI Aayog has unveiled two landmark reports under the Services Thematic Series, marking a significant step in understanding India’s services-led economic transformation. The reports were launched by Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, in the presence of Dr. Arvind Virmani, Member, NITI Aayog.

5. The Eighth Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly began in New Delhi with participation from representatives of more than 120 countries. The event, inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu, marked a significant milestone in global cooperation for renewable energy.

6. PM Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over one thousand one hundred crore rupees at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, Gujarat.

11. Punjab has launched the second phase of Mukhya Mantri Teerth Yatra Yojna. It is dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Open to people of all castes, religions and regions, devotees aged 50 years and above are eligible for this yatra.

12. The International Salinity Conference 3.0, WE-CARE 2025, began at ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa. The event was inaugurated by Dr. A.K. Nayak, Deputy Director General (NRM), ICAR, New Delhi.

13. India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are expected across multiple regions from October 30 to November 2. The weather condition is triggered by the combined impact of the remnant system of Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha and a depression over the east central Arabian Sea.

1. Justice Surya Kant will be the next Chief Justice of India. In a social media post, Law and Justice Minister Ram Meghwal congratulated him and said that President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Surya Kant as the next Chief Justice. His appointment will be effective from the 24th of next month. Justice Surya Kant will be the 53rd Chief Justice. He will succeed Chief Justice BR Gavai, whose tenure will end on the 23rd of next month.

2. Mumbai Customs Zone III officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) seized narcotics and high-value goods worth over ₹13 crore this week.

2. In Maharashtra, 19 people, including 17 children and a senior citizen, were safely rescued today after being held hostage by a man inside a studio in Mumbai’s Powai area. Police and fire brigade teams carried out the rescue operation successfully.

1. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to meet his United States counterpart, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, in Malaysia on Friday.The discussion will take place on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus in Kuala Lumpur.

2. ‘Exercise Trishul’ began yesterday along India’s western frontier, featuring coordinated tri-service operations involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Marking the first major wargame since Operation Sindoor, it aims to validate tactical improvements and enhance integrated responses.Running from 30 October to 10 November 2025, the drill sees around 25,000 Army personnel mobilised.

3. The Indian Air Force has reportedly expressed growing doubt over Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) ability to deliver the first TEJAS MK-1A aircraft by the revised March 2026 deadline.

4. The Indian Navy is moving decisively to secure 2026 clearance for its second Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC-2), marking a vital stride towards achieving a three-carrier force structure. The project seeks to ensure persistent maritime presence on both seaboards and strengthen India’s expeditionary reach in the Indo-Pacific. Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), which successfully constructed INS Vikrant, will again lead construction efforts.

India and China have reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh during a recent round of high-level military discussions.The Corps Commander-level talks were held on 25 October at the Moldo-Chushul border point on the Indian side.

8. The Indian Army has signed a contract for the procurement of its first indigenously designed and manufactured Software Defined Radios (SDR), developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and produced by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
