1. PM Modi addressed the Maritime Leaders Conclave and chaired the Global Maritime CEO Forum at the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai yesterday. On the occasion, the Prime Minister launched initiatives worth 2.2 lakh crore rupees in an effort to strengthen India’s maritime and shipbuilding capabilities.

2. The Coal Ministry launched the 14th Round of Commercial Coal Mine Auctions in New Delhi. The Ministry termed it as another milestone in India’s journey toward energy self-sufficiency and sustainable growth.

3. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has approved former India cricketer and Telangana Congress working president Mohammed Azharuddin’s induction into chief minister A Revanth Reddy-led state cabinet. This is being seen as a strategic move given that Muslims comprise nearly 25% of the 3.98 lakh voters in Jubilee Hills.

4. The campaigning in Bihar has further intensified for assembly elections as, leaders and star campaigners from various political parties held a series of rallies across the state.

5. The Delhi Government has said the next cloud seeding trial for artificial rain in the national capital will be conducted once the humidity level in the clouds exceeds 15 percent. Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed that, as per the Meteorological Department, the current humidity in the atmosphere is between 10 and 15 percent.

6. A massive nationwide exercise to document the socio-economic and occupational status of India’s marine fishing community will be launched on 31 October 2025. This marks the beginning of household enumeration under the 5th Marine Fisheries Census (MFC) 2025.

7. The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), both under the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), have jointly launched the Centre for Artificial Learning and Intelligence for Biological Research and Education (CALIBRE) in Bengaluru.

8. The Maharashtra government’s Vision 2047 is not only aligned with India’s national development vision but is also centered on the welfare and progress of the state’s citizens, said Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis in Pune.

10. The Punjab cabinet has given its nod to the Punjab Unified Building Rules, 2025, under which it will allow the construction of stilt-plus-four floors in all new residential areas coming up in urban areas.

11. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu yesterday inaugurated the 69th National School Games 2025 (Under-17 Boys & Girls – Boxing) at the Khelo India Indoor Stadium, Itanagar. Arunachal Pradesh is hosting the event for the first time in the 71-year history of the School Games Federation of India.

12. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that Cyclone Montha, which has now weakened into a depression, brought light to moderate rain over parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In Odisha, Cyclone Montha has affected 33 blocks and 11 urban areas across the state. The state government has set up 362 free kitchens, where cooked food is being provided to 18,762 people taking shelter in cyclone centres.

1. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Danish Chikna, a close aide of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and “kingpin” of a drug syndicate, from Goa.

2. The Delhi Police has busted an international drug cartel operating in India, Thailand, and the UAE with the arrest of a sacked Customs department officer and seizure of over 21 kg of high-grade “hydroponic marijuana” with a street value of ₹27 crore, Rohit Kumar Sharma, a 35-year-old former inspector with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), was arrested during a late-night operation in Janakpuri in South-West Delhi.

3. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to all its field offices in Delhi-NCR to mitigate air pollution caused by highway construction and operations.

4. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Traffic Police Headquarters has announced traffic restrictions on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH-44) on November 1 and 2 in view of the biannual Durbar Move.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s determination to eradicate Left-wing extremism (LWE) by 31 March 2026, following the surrender of 21 Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district.The group, which included 13 senior cadres, laid down arms before local authorities on Sunday, symbolising a significant step in the Centre’s intensified campaign against insurgency in the region.

1. The 31st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), themed “Where Cinema Connects The World,” will be held from 6 to 13 November 2025, bringing together filmmakers, artists, and cinephiles from around the globe. The city is set to transform into a cinematic hub, with screenings, retrospectives, and tributes celebrating both Indian and international cinema.

2. Kantara Chapter 1 film is now set for its debut, as Amazon Prime Video confirmed its streaming release on October 31, 2025, in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam, with the Hindi version arriving eight weeks later.

3. India’s first colour film was “Kisan Kanya,” released in 1937. Directed by Moti B. Gidwani and produced by Ardeshir Irani, it is recognized as the nation’s first indigenously made colour film, marking a significant milestone in Indian cinema history.

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive a ceremonial salute from 16 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel who won gallantry medals for their participation in Operation Sindoor on the occasion of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ parade in Gujarat on October 31, Friday. The nation is observing ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

2. President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, undertook a sortie in a Rafale fighter aircraft at Air Force Station Ambala, Haryana, on October 29, 2025. With this historic flight, she became the first President of India to have flown in two different fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force, having earlier taken a sortie in a Sukhoi-30 MKI in 2023.

The sortie was piloted by Group Captain Amit Gehani, Commanding Officer of the 17 Squadron “Golden Arrows.”

Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, took to the skies in a Rafale fighter jet from Ambala Air Force Station on Wednesday, leading a formation sortie that included President Droupadi Murmu.

3. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is advancing the Astra MK‑III beyond visual range air‑to‑air missile (BVRAAM) with a major emphasis on artificial intelligence‑assisted identification‑friend‑or‑foe (IFF) and spoof‑resilient guidance technologies.

4. Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) in Amethi is set to reach complete indigenisation of the AK-203 assault rifle line by December 2025, marking a major leap for India’s small arms manufacturing capability. The locally produced version, to be known as “Sher”, will carry forward the legacy of Russian reliability infused with Indian design self-sufficiency.

5. The Border Security Force (BSF) is set to install 1,000 scanners along the 4,096-km India–Bangladesh border to strengthen digital surveillance and maintain a comprehensive database of infiltrators.

6. The 5th Meeting of the Working Group on Military Cooperation of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission was held in New Delhi.

7. A full bench of the Delhi high court has sought the Union defence ministry’s stance on whether the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) has the authority to assess the constitutionality of the provision in the Navy Act that excludes transgender individuals from being eligible for appointment in the Navy.

The provision, Section 9, specifies the eligibility criteria for joining the Indian Navy or the Indian Naval Reserve Forces, stipulating that only Indian citizens can be appointed. It further provides that women are ineligible for appointment or enrolment, except in certain departments, branches, or roles as notified by the central government.
