1. Ayodhya is preparing to hold on Wednesday its first deepotsav after consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple. The government aims to better its last year’s Guinness World Record by lighting 25 lakh diyas on the banks of Saryu river.

2. The filing of nomination papers for single phase Assembly Elections in Maharashtra and second phase polling in Jharkhand ended yesterday evening. Scrutiny of nominations in the two states will be taken up today.

3. Voting for 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra and thirty-eight constituencies of the second phase in Jharkhand will take place on the 20th of next month. In Maharashtra, the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is 4th of November. In Jharkhand, assembly elections are being held in two phases.

4. Polling for the By-elections to 47 assembly Constituencies in different states and for the Wayanad Parliamentary seat in Kerala will be held on the 13th of next month.

5. Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has launched a nationwide volunteering initiative, ‘This Diwali with MY Bharat – Ye Diwali MY Bharat Ke Saath,’ to commemorate the first anniversary of the MY Bharat Portal. Scheduled from October 27 to 30, 2024.

6. External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar addressed the Army Commanders Conference in New Delhi yesterday. At the conference, Dr. Jaishankar discussed the intricacies of current geopolitics including its challenges, possibilities and opportunities.

1. Twelve people died and around 30 passengers got injured after a private bus crashed into the wing wall of a flyover in Rajasthan’s Sikar district on Tuesday afternoon. The bus coming from Salasar rammed into a part of the flyover in Laxmangarh while taking a turn.

2. In Kerala: A fire accident during a Theyyam performance at a temple near Neeleswaram left 154 people injured, eight of them seriously, when firecrackers stored in the vicinity 💥exploded. The incident occurred at Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu temple near Neeleswaram.

1. India has recently invoked penalty clauses against General Electric (GE) due to significant delays in the delivery of F404 engines for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS MK-1A. These delays have pushed the expected delivery date for the engines back to March or April 2025, representing a two-year setback from the original schedule.

2. The Indian government is signalling its intent to issue an open tender for the procurement of 114 multirole fighter jets for the Indian Air Force (IAF). This decision comes in response to the IAF’s urgent need to modernize its fleet, which currently faces significant shortages of advanced aircraft.

3. At the Swavlamban 2024 event, Artemon Aerospace unveiled a new loitering munition designed to be compatible with the Indian Navy’s P-8I aircraft. This innovative munition represents a significant advancement in India’s defence capabilities, particularly in enhancing the operational effectiveness of naval forces.

4. GRSE (Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers) has secured a significant contract valued at approximately ₹491 crore from the Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), which operates under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This order is for the design, development, construction, integration of equipment, testing, certification, commissioning, and supply of an Acoustic Research Ship (ARS).
