1. Lawyers across Delhi on Thursday called off their week-long strike after the Delhi Police informed them that the lieutenant governor (LG) VK Saxena’s notification permitting police officers to depose before court via video conferencing from police stations has been put on hold. Officials said the order would now be implemented only after consultations with all stakeholders.
2. The Telangana state government has ordered the removal of all transport check posts across Telangana. The decision comes in line with directions from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), which had advised states to abolish border check posts following the implementation of GST. Several states have already acted on the advisory to enhance ease of doing business and reduce transportation costs.
3. The Delhi High Court has dismissed Central Government’s plea against a direction to grant promotion to IRS officer Sameer Wankhede if he is found suitable by the UPSC.
4. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday afternoon conducted raids in the residence of Deputy Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Trinamool MLA Atin Ghosh in connection with their investigation into the alleged financial irregularities and corruption at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital (RGKMCH).

1. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Friday sanctioned the grant of free medical under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) to officer cadets who are medically discharged for suffering varying degrees of disabilities during military training. As per rules, they are not entitled to the status of ex-servicemen (ESM) since their disabilities took place during training before they were commissioned as officers.
2. India recently conducted the maiden flight test of its all-indigenous Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the coast of Odisha. This new system is designed to detect and destroy enemy aircraft, drones and missiles at ranges up to 35 km.
Integrated Air Defence Weapon System
The IADWS is a three-layered defence system. It includes:
(a) Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QR-SAM) with a 30 km range
(b) Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) with a 6 km range
(c) A laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) effective up to 4 km.
3. The DRDO has launched a project with private sector partners to develop a satellite communication-based datalink waveform for the Tejas Mark 2 and AMCA, boosting secure beyond line of sight communication and networked operations with real-time data sharing, sensor fusion, and electronic warfare integration.
4. More than 700 Indian armed forces personnel have joined Exercise Bright Star 2025 in Egypt, featuring firing drills by the army, navy, and air force, along with command post exercises and modern warfare training.
5. The Indian Navy will release the request for proposal for the construction of eight additional follow-on Project 17B frigates worth ₹70,000 crores by the end of this year.
