1. The Union Cabinet approved seven major schemes to improve farmers’ lives and increase their income at a total outlay of over 14 thousand crore rupees.
Key projects include the Digital Agriculture Mission, Crop Science for Food and Nutritional Security, strengthening agriculture education, sustainable livestock health, horticulture development, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Natural resource management.
2. Heavy rain has disrupted normal life in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

1. The Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar in the Swati Maliwal assault case. Imposing a slew of conditions, the apex court ordered that Kumar will not be restored to his position of Personal Secretary to the Delhi Chief Minister or given any official assignment in the Chief Minister’s Office.
2. The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested the former Principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sandip Ghosh over ‘financial misconduct’ in the medical establishment.
3. Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with alleged irregularities in appointments to the Delhi Waqf Board and the leasing of its properties, amounting to around 100 crore rupees.
4. The Supreme Court constituted a committee headed by former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Justice Nawab Singh to amicably resolve the grievances of protesting farmers at the Shambhu border.

Press Information Bureau – PIB’s Fact Check Unit has denied the rumours about an alleged notice issued by LIC that it is going to withdraw all insurance products and plans for revision by the end of this month. The counterfeit notice claimed that the revision will bring a change in premium, and policy terms and conditions. The Fact Check Unit said that the claim is fake and no such notice has been issued by the Insurance agency.
7. The government on Monday notified the constitution of the 23rd Law Commission for a period of three years, with a provision to appoint serving Supreme Court and high court judges as its chairperson and members.
The term of the 22nd law panel ended on August 31. According to a law ministry order issued late Monday through a gazette notification, the panel will have a full-time chairperson and four full-time members including member-secretary.
8. Two Kerala judges move Supreme Court against their exclusion from list for appointment as High Court judges
The selection of High Court judges from Kerala has once again run into controversy with two senior district judges moving the Supreme Court against their exclusion from the list and the inclusion of some others, whom they term as ineligible.
P.P. Saidalavi and K.T. Nizar Ahamad, senior judicial officers, moved the petition challenging the decision of the collegium of the Kerala High Court that did not consider them for the post.
9. A 23-year-old woman was injured after suspected militants launched a fresh bomb attack using a drone in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Monday. This is the second drone attack in two days. Monday’s place of raid is located around 3 km from Koutruk where two persons were killed and nine others injured in bomb and gun attacks on Sunday.
10. The death toll in the recent hooch tragedy in Odisha’s Ganjam district increased to five as one more person undergoing treatment at a hospital died on Monday evening.
11. Child killed, 2 hurt as wolf attacks continue in UP’s Bahraich : A two-year-old girl was killed and two women injured in three separate wolf attacks in the Mahsi area of Bahraich district while reports of suspected animal attacks were also received from neighbouring Sitapur district.

1. A shooting incident occurred outside the residence of Punjabi singer and rapper AP Dhillon in Canada’s Vancouver. The Lawrence Bishnoi-Rohit Godara gang has claimed responsibility for the shootings. This attack comes weeks after AP Dhillon released the music video ‘Old Money,’ featuring Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

1. An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG -29 fighter jet crashed near Barmer in Rajasthan. The IAF said, the fighter plane encountered a critical technical snag during a routine night training mission, forcing the pilot to eject. It added that the pilot was safe and no loss of life or property was reported. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered by the IAF in this matter.
2. The Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the proposal for the procurement of 240 aero-engines for the Su-30 MKI aircraft of the Indian Air Force. The approval was granted under the Buy (Indian) category from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at a cost of over 26,000 crore rupees, inclusive of all taxes and duties.
3. In Jammu and Kashmir, an army personnel was killed after terrorists attacked the Sunjwan Army Camp in Jammu. It was a standoff attack, and it appears that a sniper may have been used. A massive manhunt has been launched in the area, especially in the tall buildings, to track down the attackers.
4. Indian Navy’s P-8I aircraft reached France to take part in the ‘Varuna’ bilateral exercise with the French Navy. The aircraft will be a part of ‘Exercise Varuna’ with the French Navy.
The INS Tabar, which earlier arrived in Toulon, will also be taking part in the bilateral military exercise. The navy said the 2024 edition of the bilateral naval exercise ‘Varuna’ between the two countries is scheduled from September 2 to 4 in the Mediterranean Sea.
5. The Indian Navy is set to significantly bolster its defense capabilities against aerial threats, particularly swarming drones, by introducing high-explosive pre-fragmented (HEPF) shells. These specialized shells, capable of engaging multiple drones within a five-kilometer radius, will be fired from AK-630 Naval guns, a system already integrated into various naval vessels.
