1. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh, while the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has secured another term in Sikkim. Counting of votes for Assembly elections in the two North-Eastern states was held yesterday.

(a) Polling for the 60 seats in Arunachal Pradesh and for 32 seats in Sikkim was held on the 19th of April, simultaneously with the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. BJP has recorded a landslide victory in Arunachal Pradesh securing 46 seats out of 60.

(b) In Sikkim, out of all 32 seats, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has won 31 seats. The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has managed to bag only one seat.

(c) BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda has expressed his gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for BJP’s victory in the state assembly election.

2. The counting of votes for all the seven phases of Lok Sabha elections will take place on Tuesday. The counting of votes for Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and bye-elections to Assembly Constituencies will also be held the same day. Counting will begin from 8 AM onwards.

3. PM Modi yesterday held a series of meetings in Delhi to review a wide range of topics including heatwave and post-cyclone situation.

9. Congress has rejected the Exit Poll figures for the Lok Sabha elections, issued by several private TV news channels and other agencies. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has called the Exit poll completely bogus. He reiterated that the I.N.D.I.A. Bloc is going to get a minimum of 295 seats.

10. Telangana State Formation Day (02 June) is being celebrated on a grand scale as the state concludes its decennial celebrations of its formation. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy received guard of honour at the main event held at the Parade Grounds, Secunderabad yesterday morning.

11. The India Meteorological Department, IMD has said, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue over Northeast India and south Peninsular India during the next 3 to 4 days.

The All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE has come up with short term courses to train core engineering faculty members under quality improvement programs in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, data science. AI and data science is the second most sought after course in Tamilnadu colleges this year.

13. The Election Commission on Sunday ordered repolling at one booth each in the Barasat and Mathurapur Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal.

14. The Election Commission will hold a press conference on Monday, a day before the counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha polls.

15. The Centre has approved an Indian Institute of Management for Assam, and it would come up near Guwahati, making it among the few cities in the country housing top educational institutions, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday.

16. Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday dissolved the 10th Sikkim legislative assembly with immediate effect to clear the decks for the constitution of the 11th SLA following the declaration of results.
